Will I regret it if I don't...

get silk wraps for my nails?

I didn't stop biting them due to wedding and work stress, so my nails aren't a pretty sight. I haven't had fake nails in years and I hate the upkeep.

opinions? stories from fellow nail-biters?

If you want to get them I would get them for the wedding & teh honeymoon & then have them taken off. Then you don't have to maintain them and you still have the nails you want for the wedding.

I was actually contemplating the same thing. I had silk wraps on my nails for years but I absolutely hated the commitment of going all the time for fill-ins. I think I just might keep my nails short and neat. Maybe get a french manicure. I got a manicure on Friday and they used this stuff to help keep the polish on and believe it or not, my polish is still on !!! I'm sorry, but I can't remember the name, but I'll find out and post it for you. I want to see if I can buy it in CVS or one of those drug stores.

I get acrylic and they last longer than silk w/me personally. I bite my nails, and if they're not wrapped, I'll bite down until my nails look like a boy's. Just terrible. I also wouldn't risk having chipped nail polish for the wedding. You can get your nails wrapped w/out having tips and they'll be any length you desire.

I actually just took off my silk wraps 2 days ago. I like them better than acrylics. Your nail underneath looks better when you take them off.

Def do the silk wrap, I cant have fake nails b/c of my job and the silk was soooooo easy to file down and then take off a week later and my nails are NOT damaged. I miss them though they looked great!!!

i'ev had acrylics for years and love them. they actually stopped me from biting my nails. but if you don't want the upkeep i'd try 'gel nails' ... certain salons are doing them now ... its just a gel placed over your actual nail to strenthen and protect. you need to do fill ins like every 3-4 weeks.

I have silk wraps and have had them for about 6 years

I love the way they look...I agree that the upkeep s u c k s...but they look so nice.

I agree with the other ladies...get them for your wedding day and honey moon and then take them off

I took off my wraps 6 months ago in hopes to actually save some $$$ since I was getting them done so often. Right now my nails are in good condition..they have grown out of the yucky stage. I get manicures but cant seem to keep them long. I think I may consider just getting wraps if they arent as long as I want.
That way, for the honeymoon they will look nice and in tact while in water, etc.
Those are the best as far as removal and do not damage ur nails as much.

I kept mine short- I don't bite them, but the are funy shaped & I hate the way they look long. I kept them short, & got a manicure.

I think its something with women...I get wraps and then take them off after a year or so..then I get them put back on, and I hate getting fill-ins, so I take them off again. But when i see my natural nail I HATE the way they look..especially since I have to show my hands with my e-ring. I got the gel manicure a couple of times, but its so thing that is cracks and looks like crap most of the time. My roomate from college just got regular acrylic put on top of her nails. Just the gel that they use, not the whole arylic nail set. They looked really natural. I think I might try that this time...but they make your regualar nails look horrible when you take them off. I dont know what the heck to do!!!
