Will these go together?

Will these go together?

My parents are giving me their dining room table. It's a light wood- picture is below- this is the only picture I could find- it's the corner of the table.

Do you think that table will go with furniture that's dark brown- like the bookcase?

Or should I go with light wood or oak/maple??

Also - my floors are oak. The table will go on a rug.

I personally think it won't go unless you get dark chairs to match the bookcase- kind of a shabby sheik/country thing.

why dont you get dark seat covers then it will work.

That's what I was thinking- I didn't think it would all go together. I'm not crazy about the table but we ran out of money buying the house and the necessities so I guess it will do for now.

I'll have to look into getting chair covers. Thanks.

Why not call some antique shops? Maybe you can get the table refinished and stained to the color you want? It looks like a very nice solid table. I would give it a try.

I bought this old dresser when I was in graduate school to put in my closet. It's a nice dresser but it needed to be refinished ( I paid $50 for it).

When I moved to NJ I called an antique store to get recommendations on getting it refinished b/c I really liked the dressesr and I got it refinished for about $100 and it turned out to be an antique. I bought a mirror on sale at Pier One to put on top of the dresser and now I have it in the guest bedroom.

ETA: I like the idea for the chair covers.

Would I have to get chair covers custom made? The end chairs have arms- the others don't. Plus, it's not straight down from the top- it has a little curve to it.

I like the idea of staining it- thanks!!
