maybe it was a one-time fluke, but when I originally registered at Target in-store and later checked it online, a lot of the items I know we had scanned didn't show up on the registry...

Re: will you register at...

I will preface this by saying I love Target, it is one of my favorite stores and I shop there all the time. However, I am not sure I would register there again. This was my experience.

DH wanted to register at Target b/c he has midwestern relatives that he thought would go there for gifts. We went to Target in Westbury and signed up at the kiosk. We went to get the gun to scan everything and the customer service rep said none of them were working. She told us what we could do is write down the skew #s of everything and then go home and add them online. OK, a little inconvenient, but no big deal, right? Well, after spending a LOT of time walking around choosing items and writing down all these #s, we discovered when we got home that less than half of them were on the website, so we weren't able to add them. WE went back to the store a few weeks later and the guns were still not working. I guess we could have gone to another Target, but at that point, we had also registered elsewhere, so I blew it off.

My 2 other issues with Target were that they wiped out the registry 90 days after the wedding with no notice at all, no email or warning when I logged into the website that it would happen soon. So whatever was on there was lost. The other thing was that one person did buy something online and sent it to us, but the color was not what I had expected. The note with the packing slip said you can't return it to the store, only by mailing it back and you pay for the shipping. It wasn't really worth it, so I ended up keeping the item. All in all, I think only 2 or 3 things were purchased from that registry, so for us it wasn't really worth it. Also, many people who bought gifts got them online and just had them shipped.

I know other people had great experiences, I just wanted to tell you this to give you all the info.

ETA: I forgot - Target will not take ANYTHING back without a receipt now (gift receipt is OK) so if someone forgets to give you the gift receipt you will be out of luck. I think they are sticking to this pretty strictly these days.
