I'm going to continue working towards my career, then when we have kids, we MAY think about myself staying home, until the kids go to school.. But.. I wanted to ask this because I know things have changed, and woman are soo INDEPENDENT.. I was just curious!!!

Re: Will you work, or be a home maker???
I'll be working for financial reasons and I worked hard to earn my degree and I don't plan on giving up my career.

michelle that is so true, You bust your butt working on your degree.. I mean, I am not even done yet, and then to think I may give it up..umm.. no.. I do plan on staying home with the kids for a while, just until they can go to pre school.. then back to work for me.. I think I would get bored, i at least have to work part time

I'm gonna teach until I have kids... hopefully stay home until they're school age and then work again!! That's my plan now at least!

I'll still be working because we need both incomes at the moment. If we become more financially stable in the future, I would love to be able to stay home and raise our family.

Once you do have kids you will not believe how difficult it is to leave them... Its been 18 months and I still dont want to go back to work.

First thing first, we will try to have babies!!
In the mean time I will be continuing to work. My job allowes me to work from home or be in an office. Maybe when kids come I will become a homemaker.

Re: Will you work, or be a home maker???
I cant vote on your poll because at this point I think I want to stay at home! But my FH and I believe I shoudl have an option. I worked really hard to get my degree and to excel in my career and I am not sure I will want to give that up. But I dont think I will work full time because I dont want someone else to be raising my children!

Re: Will you work, or be a home maker???
If I or my FI become what we want, which is professional screenwriters, then this question is kinda moot, 'cause we'll both be working out of the house (in separate rooms) and will take shifts with the kids.
If one of us becomes rich writing, then we'll support the other one's writing career as well, so the same plan works.
If both of us burn out, then I HAVE to keep my job - my FI's already a freelance writer and I provide our health insurance.
But as for being a full time mom - not writing - naw, I don't think I'll ever do that. I might slow down for a few years though.

Does anyone on LI really have a option these days? Seriously, I'll keep working for financial reasons, and also because it is who I am.

Re: Will you work, or be a home maker???
this is quite a question - right now cause i am on the dl i am not working - i hope to be back to part time eventually but it looks like home maker for me - not really an active choice just how it worked out -

Right now....we'll work....then move out of state and continue to work to save up....then when the kids come, we both agreed that I will stay home to raise them.
