I'll be taking his! My last name is pretty boring...haha...and I always wanted a different one anyway!!

Plus, when we have kids, its very important to me for us to be the ______ family. I don't want my kids to have a different last name.

I will be taking his plain, boring, easy to spell and easy to say last name. I have always had people mispell and mispronounce my last name, so its going to be very strange to have such a plain last name. It would be way too long to hyphenate


I have the same thing. Nobody ever can spell or pronounce my name and i kinda like it now im going to sound like an 100% english person lol Kimberly Waterbury lol

It is super long and crazy - it has 11 letters and 5 sylables no one can ever say it but i love it!!!

wanted to hyphenate but fh got really offended. really bothered him so i decided to take his last name.


My FH did the same thing. So, since I don't have a middle name. I'm going to add my maiden name as my middle name and take his.

Okay I have a story about this....
So my FH was previously married. His ex's name is the same as mine. (Imagine his reaction when our mutual friends introduced us He does not have fond memories of that marriage.)

So for months I told him I was hyphenating my last name. I never toldhim why until onme day and that is when he told me his ex never took his name and didn't hyphenate either. She kept her maiden name (just a sign of things to come).

When I heard that i was like YEAH!!! So now I am going to take his name, but at work I will most likely hyphenate. I like my maiden name. Also, at work it would be easier for people to locate me.

i hateeeee my last name so i usually go by my mothers madien name.. actually i always go by it lol... so ill be taking Fh's last name even thou i hate it lol... ill be D~LO lol

I'm taking his. No one can ever say or spell my last name right. His is nice and simple...perfect for a teacher

I think I'm going to take his but keep my last name only for business purposes because I'm an attorney and my degrees and everything are in my name!

i would love to hyphenate but my last name has 10 letters and his has 9. it is going to be hard at first to get used to but i am going to be taking his name.

i think we should switch it up and make them take our names!! lol

Mine will be hyphenated. I am puerto rican and spanish and he is scottish english irish and something else but i forgot....anyway the point is that i did not want to just drop my name and kind of push away my identity and my fathers name that he is very proud of. FH was a little mad at first about it but he understands now.

taking his name...i have been dealing with a super long name all my life...im not making it longer...its sooo bad I couldnt fit my full name on most STD so i had to improvise lol....so his name is nice and short and easier to sign YAY!

can you have your diplomas changed...cuz my degrees are all in my maiden name...

that's a good question. you prob can for a fee at the university where you graduated. if not then, you still have proof that the person on your degree is you by using your birth certificate if you need to prove your identity or something. i would check the university though
