William Hung's popularity: racist?

Not everything that goes on in the world is racism.
I actually think that what's going on with Hung is much worse.
We live in a society that tells people that it's okay to make fun of others and I think that's just terrible.

I think the whole William Hung thing is sad actually, everyone's just doing it foe a laugh and I hate when people get made fun of. Their actually talking about him on Howard Stern right now... They are calling him retarded

I think the Hung thing is sad..but to toss in the race thing? I dunno about that.

Agreed - I think it's disgusting the way he is being paraded around while everyone laughs at him.

If the truth about this is even a touch racist.. it's a horrible wrong and not to be tolerated.

However.. if he LETS himself be exploited as he takes the money to the bank.. then I think we have two wrongs going on. JMO

I don't know the inner workings on the deal -- let's just hope it's 'a done in good fun thing.'

I feel the same way. I wonder if he realizes . . . I have to admit when he was on AI for the first time I was hysterical, but I think it is ridiculous now and has gone WAY too far!!!

What does he care? He's laughing all the way to the bank.

Haha all those people making fun of me but I'm the one getting all the attention and the money from a record deal (and you know people will buy that record).

I think it's more like WE have been made fun of to laugh at this guy yet we eat it up hook, line and sinker.

i agree with some points of this article, i don't know if its entirely racism though.
But it is sad. Are people really buying the cd? I don't see how anyone can see him as a serious artist, but yet he's led to believe he is one. His heart is in it, but theres no talent. I agree he is being exploited.
And how is this fair to all the people out there with huge talent, seriously trying to get a record deal and don't, but this guy gets one without even trying.

People want to laugh. There's enough TALENT out there...

Besides, I don't think his album will actually make big sales...Unless people are buying it out of curiosity--which is what will probably end up happening.

I am guilty. I laugh at William Hung. I think it is his dance moves that makes him even funnier. I don't think it is a racist thing though, although his accent may add a little bit to his inability to sing.

remember...there has to be someone at the bottom of the class...even in med school...

I don't think he is slow because you have to be really really smart to get into UC Berkeley.
