Tulips are my favorite flower and want to use them everywhere for my May wedding. Someone told me that tulips will wilt by the end of the evening.
Is this true?
Are you having tulips???

Re: Wilting Tulips?
I wanted my BM to walk down the aisle with tulips but changed my mind. I was talking to my florist about this and he said he puts wiring in them to make them stand tall. I would question your florist.

Re: Wilting Tulips?
I LOVE LOVE LOVE tulips... I can't imagine that they would be wilted by the end of the day. I don't have much experience with them other than buying the occasional bouquet and putting them in a vase. But they tend to last longer than a day for me. Maybe someone with more 'tulip' experience can help you!

I think tulips are very tempermental. They could last all day or they could wilt. Your best bet is to ask your florist. Or, you could post on the vendor board if you're looking for a quicker response.

Re: Wilting Tulips?
I am getting married at the end of May. I was told that they are coming from Holland and they should be fine that time of year. It is the end of the season, but if you love them, I say go for it! I am having tulips for my BM bo-k's and my CP's.

Re: Wilting Tulips?
I have a dozen tulips on my table right now, FH gave them to me last saturday. They pretty much lasted a week, although some of them got droopy 2-3 days later. I would be careful, they can be very unpredictable

Re: Wilting Tulips?
I had success and failure with tulip bouquets given to me. I would use them with other flowers if I were you. And not on the outer edge of the bouquet. That way they get 'supported' by the other flowers.
Or, like someone else said, your florist should use a wire.

I love tulips and wanted to use them in my CP, but my florist talked me out of it because they are tempermental.

my personal opinion is that if you have a good florist they will find you tulips that will stay looking great during your entire wedding.

Re: Wilting Tulips?
My FH sent me Tulips for Valentine's Day. They lasted a couple of days without drooping.
My mom told me that putting a penny in the vase stops them from drooping.

Re: Wilting Tulips?
i love love love tulips. FH proposed by putting the ring in a tulip at a tulip festival.
anyway.... tulips can be tempermental, but they do the worst when it is hot out. i think you should do ok in may.
i heard the penny trick works, but i tried it and it didnt make THAT much of a difference. they bend to the light. whenever i do have tulips they have lasted me about 4-5 days. change the water at least every 2 days and throw a splash of seltzer or club soda in there. works for me everytime.
