Windows on the Lake

Windows on the Lake

Hi all,

I don't think there is an official thread for this hall, but I apologize if I've duplicated one. I was just wondering if anyone has been to a wedding at Windows on the Lake. I visited them yesterday and it's gorgeous. So far, I've only seen 1 review on this place. The only thing I don't like is that they aren't actually on Lake Ronkonoma.... a 2-way street separates them from the lake area. They claim they will stop traffic during the ceremony, but that's still a bad point. Any advice?

I went to a wedding there, It was about a year ago in May. It was very pretty. They had really good food at the CH and plenty of it. The CH was crowded though and difficult to find a place to sit. The food at dinner was really good, I remember having chicken because I had never heard of the kind of chicken and I was pleasantly surprised. They had a fantastic Venetian hour and was the first place I had ever seen the chocolate fountain. It was so yummy. We didn't have any problems with parking, or the valet. Can't say about them stopping traffic.

I* just came from a wedding there last night the ceremony was by the lake, I did not really like the fact that people was driving by screaming congrats's and also if you plan to wear high heels expect them to get in the dirt.

FM me if you want more details,

But other than that it was great

Congratulations soon2bmrs2004, I would love to see your review after your wedding.

I'm just curious, did you take their full package or go with your own vendors?

Re: Windows on the Lake

I did not take their full pacakge. I only picked a few of their house vendors.

leniedar,

I was told by the BM that they close the streets during the ceremony. Was this not true for the wedding you attended? This is a major concern to me. Thanks!

Re: Windows on the Lake

I think they close the streets only when you and the guests are crossing.
I was supposed to have the ceremony on the lake but didn't because it rained.

Re: Windows on the Lake

Ahh, if that's true Frank the used car salesman lied to me. :) He told me they close the street 'during the ceremony'. That changes things.

Re: Windows on the Lake

no they did not close the streets when the ceremony was going on. They only stopped traffic when we was crossing over

Re: Windows on the Lake

I was originally going to get married there, but the room they were going to put us in was 'for 165 max'. IMO any more than 130 people would have been very uncomfortable.

By the way, I was also told that they closed the street for the ceremony. I couldn't imagine how they could though.

Did anyone go to the Expo there tonight?
IV Generation DJ seemed pretty good to me. They did a sample wedding with all the brides to be.... we got to dance etc. The food was really good and they had that chocolate fountain...yummy. I didn't like the Videographer though. He couldn't tell me any prices for their standard package and they charge you more to get the vidoes on DVD. That stinks.

Re: Windows on the Lake

Just put down my deposit at Windows on the Lake today! I am super psyched about it. We aren't planning on having the ceremony there, so I didn't ask too many questions about ceremonies on the lake.

Has anyone used the vendor package they offer? It seems like a good idea and like it will save us tons of money. But I need more info about the individual vendors before deciding. The trouble is, I am planning this wedding from out of state (my FH and I both live in Boston, though I am originally from LI and my whole family lives on LI), so I can't make it to any of the bridal showcases. I am hoping to set up individual meetings with each of the vendors before deciding on the package, but any info anyone has would be of help! Thanks!

Re: Windows on the Lake

deb, I went to the last expo and saw all the house vendors. I didn't like the Vidoeographer. He avoided lots of questions and he charges an additional $250 to put the videos on DVD for us. Unfortunately, he didn't have any cards so I don't have the name. The DJ was pretty good. They are called IV Generation. The Photographer is ADA and seemed okay plus I've seen their albums at lots of other Wedding Halls and the photos are very nice. Their florist is James Cress Florist. I didn't care for the rep they had there but they've been around for many years so you can probably find some info on them. I think those are the major vendors in the package. I'm not sure who does their invitations, place cards, etc. When you put down a deposit, did they give you the brochuse outlining the package? You should ask them to send it to you if not. It doesn't list the vendor names but it gives you an idea of what's included.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help but at least you can look up those names on these boards for research.
