windows on the lake (long)
My wedding took place last Sunday at Windows. We arrived early to take pictures. Although there was another event (it looked like a birthday party ) taking place (before my ceremony) they allowed me and my bridal party full access to the grounds and to the bridal suite 2 hours before my wedding. The staff was so accomodating and were constantly asking if we needed drinks, water, food etc... It was drizzling that day, so they even sent someone to hold an umbrella over my head as we took pictures!!The ceremony took place at Windows. The one negative was that the aisle was small and it was a tight squeeze because I chose to walk down the aisle with both my mother and father. However, it was fine for two people walking down together. I made my own cd''s (prelude, processional, recessional) and they played the right songs at the appropriate times. The cocktail hour was a blur, as I used that time to greet all of my guests. I messed up the seating chart (I had 16 people at one table) but they resolved my error without any involvement from me. The reception was a blast!!! We used their house dj (Whose name I forgot, I think it was Pedro). He played ALL of the songs I requested, NONE of the songs I didn''t want to hear and kept the crowd on their feet the entire night. He read the crowd really well which is amazing since my husband is Jewish, and I''m African-American. The food was EXCELLENT. We heard that from everyone on both sides of the family, again the staff was overly accomodating. Maria (the maitre''d) was absolutely wonderful. She made sure that my wedding gifts, candelabra and flowers were all packed for me. The next day I remembered the top tier of the wedding cake and found that she had also packed that for me!!
We used Rabbi Cohen who also was wonderful and explained all of the traditions so that my family wouldn''t feel left out. We used VIP studios for pictures.
For anyone getting married at Windows...Relax, If your day is even half as good as mine you''ll have a wonderful time. I would highly recommend Windows to anyone planning a wedding in Suffolk county and if I had to do it again and my budget was doubled, I would return to Windows on the Lake.
