Wine...

I do not drink...at all. But I want to make FH a really nice dinner...and I was thinking about getting a bottle of wine. Can anyone recommend something that is not too strong...that tastes good? I have no clue about anything wine related....

PS. What do you do with wine charms? Someone gave me some...I don't know what they are for.

Thanks.

Re: Wine...

wine charms hang around on wine glasse stems so when you have a party, people know which glass is theirs!!

Ok...I don't think I need the wine charms for just me and FH...hehehe.

Where do you buy wine? At a liquor store? What do I look for? I am so clueless....

Thanks!

I can't drink alcohol so when I want something like a wine I usually get a non-alcoholic one. Its .06 fluid ounce of alcohol (or something like that. THere are many brands to choose from nowdays.

Another vote for Pinot Grigio Santa Margarita! It's so delicious!!!

A really good red wine I recently discoverd is Yellowtail Sheriz.

What kind of a meal are you making? The wine must compliment the meal.

Yes I agree...The wine must compliment the meal. There are many good tasting wines out there...Some of my favorite come From Pindar out on Long Island....There is Pindar Sweet Scarlet, for red wine...but that is more like a dessert wine...and there is also Pindar Winter White for a white wine, that is yummy. If you like Chardonnay then I would say to go with Pindar Sunflower Chardonnay or Yellow Tail Chardonnay, not made by Pindar Vineyards.

Re: Wine...

woodbridge chardonnay is good and decently priced. our favorite wine is Cakebread Savion Blanc but its a little more pricy. If you're not a wine drinker, I think whites maybe a better choice than reds. Like what was stated before, it depends on what you'll be making.

I was thinking to make some sort of chicken...or pasta. Do they require different wines? Do I have to decide before I cook?

Maybe I'll just stick with my diet coke...LOL.

I agree. LOVE PINDAR WINE...and Peligrini
Try spring splender... not as sweet as the summer blush but a little sweeter than the winter white.

PS- yes a lot of people buy wine to compliment the food but really you should buy wine to compliment your mood.....

If your not a wine drinker, you may just go with Beringer white Zinfandale....It has a fruity taste, and it is very good....not tart, and a little on the sweeter side.

If you like sweet, I vote for one of the Pidar Wines, such as summer blush or spring slendor.

I do LOVE Pinot Grigio Santa Margherita.

Or just go with a white znfindel.

Yes Yes Yes it makes all the difference in the world!

Pasta - Pouilly Fume, J. Grothe, Acacia 2001
Chicken - Chardonnay, Patz and Hall, Dutton Ranch 2000

The Pouilly is a white wine. Chill it in a bucket with ice for at least an hour before serving.

The Chardonnay is a red wine that needs to be chilled but not like the white. Place in bucket with ice for about 20 minutes. Make sure you remove the cork for the 20 minutes as well.

And never ever place in the refrigerator. Way to cold for wine. You'll ruin it!

All The Best and enjoy!
