Me too. I never used to like wine, but my college roommates introduced me to Riesling after they learned about different types of wine in their intro to wines class. I finally found a wine I liked.

The Estancia Sauvigon Blanc is great as well as the Merlot. Couldn't believe that it's about $13!

Re: wine
Yellow Tail Shiraz is always safe
For Reds, I prefer Chianti or Rioja
Whites, Chardonnay (but very buttery chardonnays)

Re: wine
I love Pino Griso. The brands I like that are inexpensive but taste really good are: Cavit, Luna DeLuna, St. Giuseppe and there is one other really good one that has a picture of a dragon fly on the front (I forget the name). They all rabge from $11.99-$17.00. If you are looking for something a little more expensive there is St. Margaritta, but I can't really tell the difference in taste. And yes, I love wine.

Re: wine
I've finally taken a liking to red wine (and what a liking I've taken! ). My current favorite is the Merlot-Cabernet mix from yellowtail. I'm not a big Merlot fan but this one is really full-bodied. I also like chianti a lot. If I'm going white, which I rarely do these days, I like Sauvignon Blanc, espeically any from Chile. I also like the Luna di Luna Pinot-Chardonnay mixes. And Prosecco (Italian Sparkling wine).
God I sound like a lush!

Re: wine
Reds:
Vino Nobile and Rosso from Montepulciano, Italy.
If you have a bunch of spare $$ and you want a REALLY good red, get a Brunello from Montelcino, Italy.
Toscanas are usually good (also called Super Tuscans)- it's a mix of Italian reds.
Pinot Noirs from Oregon are good.
Martha Clara makes a really good wine called 6025. It's about $40 a bottle, but I haven't been able to find it anywhere but at the vineyard and in restaurants.
Whites:
Soave- not terribly easy to find, but usually cheap. It's a house white in Italy and very tasty.
Other than that I usually just have Pinot Grigio when I have white.

Be careful with soaves...some are delicious...but most of the cheaper ones are very acidic.
