Winter Brides...

Winter Brides...

Hey, all of you winter brides! My original plan was to have my wedding in December. I love that season and I think it's really romantic, but I'm concerned about my ceremony being romantic (interfaith, probably t the hall- maybe it would be more romantic outside), and about photos. Al of the wedding photos I see are these outdoor spring garden shots. What are you doing? And why did you choose winter?..This is really important, cause I really don't know what to do about my date..

I love the holiday seasons during winter - the feel of coziness really.

I picked a Hall that was decorated and cozy for winter (fireplaces going, garland, wreaths, holly berries, etc ...)

I will take some photo's outside (weather permitting )

I think if you are having a ceremony at the hall you can do things to give the feel of festiveness and romantic-ness - flowers, pointsettas, pine cones, garland, berries, deep colored roses, lots of candles and votives ...

It's a beautiful time of year!

We really didn't care what month we got married.. we picked January because we didn't want a long engagement... we were enaged in July and married in January- waiting 'till the summer was too long for me- I have no patience.

With that said- our ceremony was very pretty and romantic- it was all candle lit with very low lighting (it was dark outside)...

We had beautiful tall candleabras and huge candle sticks/pillars all over with ivy trailing from them...

we took no pictures outside and I have no regrets.

We actually like the colder weather and wouldn't mind some snow for the pictures...it looks so pretty.

We chose February cause it was less expensive and I really wanted something different and everyone else we knew was having a summer or fall wedding. But I'm starting to get really worried about the pictures. We're getting married at the hall and we can only takes pics a half hour before the ceremony. FH and I went to Westbury Gardens Mansion in the winter and were incredibly disappointed with the way everything was covered and put away. Heard Vanderbuilt was the same way and very Egyptian inside. I've talked to two very big hotels, and basically they can't guarantee I'll be able tot ake pictures there cause if someone books a wedding or conference there for that day, I lose my spot. The Holstville Ecology center is the same way. There seems to be no way I can make definite plans and I'm running out of options (and I do not want to take my pictures during cocktail hour). Any other suggestions!?!?!?!

Re: Winter Brides...

WE picked a winter wedding for a few reasons.

We got engaged at the end of Oct 03.
Our best man is getting married Oct 04 and we didnt want to jump ahead and have our wedding before him.

Alot of halls had November all booked up.
December was completely out since both of us work in retail and barely get to see each other from Thanksgiving til Christmas.

May or June was just too long of an engagement.

And When we actually sat down a Jan wedding was close to $50 a head cheaper than May or June. So saving close to $8000 on the hall alone was a huge factor.

I love the Pointsetta's and holly around christmas. I am saving money b/c I dont have to decorate the Church b/c they will still be decorated from Christmas with pointsettas and holly and might even have the tree up still. The hall put in my contract that they will wait til monday to take down the Winter decorations instead of taking them down on Friday. So my girls are going to wear a wine color and we are having a Winter Wedding.

Hi ladies, I'am also a winter bride. I choose January because I am graduating in December and didn't want to extend my enagement any longer.

its a little far from Chateau la mer, but what about EAB plaz in uniondale. I don't know the detaisl abotu reserving & fees ,b ut do a search here.

It is this sort of indoor tropical hot house garden thing--haven't been there in years, but pretty as I remeber it.

I wanted a winter wedding b/c it is my favorite time of year. As for outdoor pictures, you could have a summer day and it rains and you wouldn't get outdoor pictures anyway.

That's what I thought too. If I move it to April just to be bale to do things outdoors, it could still rain, and what would have been the point? I think I'm gonna stick with winter, that's what I really want to do. However, Spring would have meant getting married earlier..I'm already impatient. Maybe FH will get a really awesome job and we'll be able to get married in 2005 instead!

Do you remeber last June (2003) ... it rained every single Friday, Saturday & Sunday ... those poor June brides! After that, I said it really didn't matter what time of year you got married - you are never guaranteed anything when it comes to mother nature!

I am a winter Bride , because I always dreamed of having a Christmas Theme wedding. I love the color RED, the warm feeling you get in the winter. With the holiday season in the air at that time, there is nothing nicer than bringing close family and friends together to celebrate. I choice my Hall - the Riviera, because they have these two beautiful fireplaces that will be lite. They decorate wtih a large Xmas Tree. If there is snow on the ground, even better. I think pics in the Snow are just so amazing! You can really get creative with the winter months. For example, I am having Egg Nog sereved to my guest as they check their coat and arrive at the door. Nothing is better than a warm chocolate fondue foutain, yummy! Best of luck planning.

My best friend just got married on December 5th. It was the day of the first snowstorm of the year. She had hoped for snow for her pictures...but just a sheet of it. She got a whole lot more than that. I just received her Thank You last night and it was gorgeous. Her pictures are beautiful. Her bridesmaids wore muffs and they looked amazing. I Love that idea. It was a snowflake theme so it all went well.
