Winter Brides - Shawls for BM or NOT?

I am getting married this March, and I was wondering if I should also had shawls to my BM gifts?
What are any other brides doing?

the BM dress is a tank style.

IF anyone has bought shawls, from where and how much? DOnt want to spend much since spending on other gifts for BM aleady.

We are lucky we would need black shawls probably the easiest to find.

ANY help or advice would be great

I am also a March bride... I bought my girls shawls because thier dress is strapless... I am also giving them a little something the day before (a little tea pot with teas and cookies).

I got the shawls (which are also black) where the dresses were ordered (Bonaventures) and they were $50.

i am thinking of buying shawls too (outdoor wedding in early April and i am worried it will be chilly - especially with the weather this winter!)
i think if you don't buy the shawls, they will all look different (which won't necessarily be bad - but may not be the look you want). and if your girls don't have shawls, they may end up putting on coats if they get chilly, which might look a little silly for pictures.

don't laugh, but i have this great fake pashmina shawl that i love that i got from this 'Everything for $10 or Less' store in an airport somewhere. but i think i have seen these in malls too. or maybe the flea market? Also, sometimes in Jan/Feb. Macy's has their shawls on sale and maybe you can get a discount if you buy more than one. Good luck!

I found some fake pashmina shawls on ebay, but I dont know if I should order one or just go to flea market first.

I would love to get them for $10, since I already am buying them other stuff, and we all know it adds up espeically with 8 bridesmaids

I don't think it is necessary that you get them shawls. They can always get their own if they think they need it..but if you want them to match, I think it would be very nice of you to get them for them.


I bought my BM's black shawls for my October wedding as part of their BM gift. Got them at Macy's when they were on sale. I think the were originally $40 but on sale for about $25-30. They really appreciated them because it got chilly. Nothing fancy..just sheer black wraps with a small kind of embroidered/lacy trim...figured they can definitely use them again.

Hi Berlykim, i here you about the bargains. i have 7 girls. sheesh. i am going to do the same as you. i think i would check out the flea market and Macys before Ebay. If you found something at Macy's that was a good second choice, you could buy it and even keep trying ebay, since you could return the others to Macys. I just am not a big ebay fan (mostly because i am afraid and don't know how to bid ) BTW - i remembered that the cheap sstore i found my shawl in was in the Dallas airport. Sorry! Good luck
