Winter Valentine's?

Winter Valentine's?

Hey everyone!

I've joined here cause I noticed lots of useful advice on the forum and cause I just can't get seem to figure out a colour scheme for our wedding.
We (I) wanted to do a winter wedding, cause I like snow. I figured blue and silver would be perfect. Or mint green.
But as I have an important project coming up in December we ... well ended up the date 14. Feb. 2009. It took us two days to realize it's Valentine's.
The hotel where the reception will take place will have it's own Valentine's decorations up, obviously in red. Now we could just ask them to re-decorate, but I'd prefer to just incorporate it (and save some money). So what I'm looking for is a valentine's theme that would have a touch of frost to it. Please help, I suck at color matching.

Thank you. Your pictures really look awesome, I'm not surprised you praise your photographer so much!
But I wonder how it would all look, if I added green or blue to red & white.

Re: Winter Valentine's?

i think a chocolate fountain, candy buffet w/ vday candies... oooh, how about a red velvet cake? yumm! and lots of tea lights are good for winter weddings.

also, jmo, but i wouldnt add blue with the reds for the wintery touch..but white and silver maybe instead.

What about doing a 'SweetHearts Ball', you could add the winter look and elegance for a ball, and then add the reds and mauves...

Wee, it's nice to see so many ideas flow in after you've been away for a while. Thank you all so much.
We've been thinking about it all for a while and in the end, I think, we'll probably give in to the red, as we must, but we'll add green for spring and, obviously, white (for snow and wedding). I'd like to have the feeling of spring waking (and love waking ...).
Thanks again for all the suggestions and, of course, keep them comming ;)

What about snowflakes? As for Valentines day...try to get creative with centerpieces and decor because the price of flowers on that day are going to be ski-high!

Re: Winter Valentine's?

Hi Brides,
I am new to LIweddings & just booked my wedding. The date 2/14/ 2010 which of course is Vday. I really wanted a fall 2009 wedding sometime in October but the place I really wanted to have my wedding at was too expensive & after looking at other places just to have a Fall wedding I wasn't impressed & the prices were all around the same. I ended up picking winter & was going to book for early March then the Hall told me they had Vday opened & it's a three day weekend with Presidents day folling on that Monday.

So now I am having a problem with a color scheme. I had all fall colors in my head with all those beautiful burnt reds, oranges & so on. I know it's V day but I don't want all red & I am freaking out b/c flowers are going to cost alot, especialy Roses. So if anyone has any suggestions on colors that will still give my wedding that romantic Valentine's feel & flowers I would greatly appriciate any advise.

On the Flowers if anyone has any Florist referrals that would be great too.

thank you all I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day yesterday.
