settled on weather/off season to be able to have the place of your dreams?
or do you just like the winter?

Re: winter wedding brides
i actually hate winter but having a winter wedding was much more cost effective (or at least it seemed that way). i would not have been able to have the saturday night wedding that i wanted if i were to do it 'in-season'. although, i kind of wish that i looked into rh's for october but oh well..

We chose a winter wedding for three reasons.
1. It worked best with our school schedule (I was finishing up my MA and at the time we booked DH was taking classes at the local CC). 2. I didn't want to get married when it was hot (because I hate to sweat). So it was either Jan 09 or wait until Oct 10. I was not a fan of waiting almost 2 years. 3. When we saw how cheap January was in comparison to October, that solidified it for us.
In addition, I think our color scheme and overall theme worked better in the winter. And even though we couldn't do a park photo shoot, we had very light snow which made the scenery around us gorgeous.

1. The main reason was because it is cost effective. 2. I hate, hate, hate the heat, so summer was never an option. So we looked around for the fall, but the price difference was so huge. 3. Worked best for FH's schedule.

Well I somehow got this idea in my head that I wanted any 'icy' wedding which could only be winter. It also worked with our schedules and the price difference was an added bonus.

Re: winter wedding brides
I too hate the winter. I DO NOT like to be cold LOL. We got engaged in Nov. and started looking beginning of Dec. We were shooting for a Sept. wedding. Upon going from place to place, FH pointed out how beautiful the places looked all decorated for X-mas. I said' No way, dont even think about it' Then the more we went I was noticing it too and was like 'DAMN IT ok' LOL Ended up benefiting us in the end. Off season, so you can get the prices you want and be more negiotable. All the vendors are not in such a high demand cause of the time of year. And now that we have it, it made it easier to come with a theme. Not doing a christmas theme of reds and greens, but a winter wonderland. With snowflakes, and blues and silver, and ornaments. I'm so happy we did Dec. Cant wait to see it all pieced together

I've wanted to get married in December since I was little. I knew I wanted red bridesmaids dresses and wintery greenery & flowers.

Re: winter wedding brides
We got engaged in the summer, and we were planning on getting married the following september, but my gf decided to have her wedding the same month, so we just decided to push it back (and didn't want it near the holidays).
It so far has really worked out though- it's a great time to go to South Africa (where we are honeymooning) and we were able to get some great deals on vendors!

Re: winter wedding brides
I love Christmas in NY. I always loved the Rockerfeller Christmas Tree ever since i saw Home Alone Lost in NY when i was small. It is just so magical. I am having my wedding in Time Square with Pictures at the RF Christmas Tree and also Central Park. (If it snows lightly all the better) Also my favorite color is Red so that is the color of my BM dresses and they will be wearing the Faux Fur Shrugs also. It really is my dream and as someone else said i cant wait for it to all come together.
I cant wait.

1. I love the Winter! 2. FH and I always go on vacation during January so this time it will be our honeymoon. 3. Prices were also very competetive 4. I'm in grad school and I have off the entire month of January. 5. The date is important to us...
So it was basically a no brainer that we would become H and W in January.

Re: winter wedding brides
I wanted a fun wedding date like 10/10/10 or 9/10/11. Then I saw 12/11/10 was on a Saturday and chose that as my wedding day (over a year before I got engaged ).
I wanted a winter wonderland theme. I love how everything gets decorated. I love Christmas music. The whole time of year makes me happy
And it doesn't hurt that vendors are less expensive, although I didn't find that out until we started booking them and everyone was saying, 'we can work more with you because you're getting married in an off season.'

It had nothing to do with the price.. I just LOVE the winter, the cold, snow, everything about it.
I hate heat, sweating, summer, bad hair because of humidity, etc.
I'm hoping we have a little bit of snow on the ground for amazing pictures.

We chose winter because it worked with our schedules. (FH will just be graduating grad school.) We also live in Florida right now so winter is kinda of a magical time to us (bc we don't get to experience ofter..corny i know). Also, it was alot cheaper!

I hate the heat also! I've had friends who were in a wedding in the summer and they complained about sweating....plus i want my hair to be perfect and in the summer you run the risk of Friz!

Re: winter wedding brides
We never thought about having a winter wedding until we went and booked our venue. We slashed our price almost half of what we would pay for an autumn wedding. (we didn't want to be in debt from a wedding since we are paying for everything on our own) We both did not want a summer wedding because of the heat and summer traffic for our guests. I am very happy with our decision financially and also on the creative level. We are having a february wedding and there are a lot of things you can for a winter wedding do such as colors, flowers, favors. Our venue looks so cozy in the winter as well. We also saved on vendors and hotel accomodations because of the off season. This was the best decision we made, Just gotta keep our fingers crossed not to have a blizzard. The only thing that worked against us was our honeymoon. We are paying out the A** because its during winter break!!!

Re: winter wedding brides
DH owns a landscaping business besides working his FT job and it goes from March-Dec, he races cars from May-Sept, the wedding couldn't interfere with his landscaping or racing schedules so we could go on a HM, so we only had Jan or Feb to have the wedding.

Re: winter wedding brides
i do not like the winter and NEVER thought of planning a winter wedding. but the summer was out of the question because of dh's job. when we got the price of the winter compared to the spring and fall- we couldnt pass it up bc we paid for everything ourselves. i was nervous about a snowstorm- and we ended up totally lucking out!! we had 50 degree sunny beautiful weather on our wedding day!! we even got to take a bunch of pics outside! 2 of my best friends got married last summer and both of their weddings it poured so it just goes to show, ya never know!

We chose Winter (well, technically very late Fall, but as far as I'm concerned December equals Winter), because I hate hot weather. Really we were just vain, and didn't want to be hot, sweaty, greasy, and uncomfortable. Plus, the pricing was lower, and for the type of look and theme I was going for, Winter worked better anyways. I also thought early December would be nice and dry and crisp still, before bad weather, but I was sorely mistaken and we were almost washed away by a monsoon

Re: winter wedding brides
sooo many reasons!
We have always wanted a winter wedding.... especially close to Christmas since it's our favorite holiday. I am in love with everything Christmas themed and the decorations. I feel like I am so happy around the holidays, it means being with family and friends and celebrating.
I hate the heat! Bleeh.
Prices are SO much lower. Having a wedding in Jan is the cheapest month.
