Winter weddings

Winter weddings

We want to switch to a nighttime wedding, and in order not to have to change our hall, I'm thinking of maybe changing our date to January or February.......am I crazy? I know it's risky because of snow and stuff....but it would only be 100 per person minimum, and photog, music, centerpieces, cake upgrade would be included in the price! I have to confirm, but I think it would be $110/person. Opinions???

IMO, $110pp is a lot of money for a winter wedding. we paid $113pp tax included at crest hollow in early november friday evening and only had a 150 guarantee - and that included a VH with a full extra hour and many upgrades. i know it includes a lot of stuff, but u have to use their vendors, etc. are you really gonna be happy using their photographer? i dont know your situation, but IMO, you can cut costs in other ways. but a lot of people do those all inclusive packages and have no problems.

also - swan club was offering me all that for like $65pp (not including tax) for the same date

I know for sure you can get cheaper than $100 pp for a winter wedding. I saw great winter packages for certain venues when I was looking.

I also think $110 p/p for a winter wedding is insane!! Stewart Manor Country Club has a winter wedding package of $60 p/p. That is one wedding at a time, basic menu - no upgrades. Anyday, time during Dec-March. Gurantee is 100 people. *vendors can be included for $90 p/p - includes bare miniumum)

Thatched Cottage has an all inclusive package for $10K for all the vendors, menu, based on 100 people.

I believe those are better options if you do that, rather than paying $110 p/p. They try to make it seem you are getting a deal, but you may be losing money out of that. Usually winter packages cut out on upgrades, and give you the bare miniumum to such things like you may need 3 limos, but the packages include 1. So shop around for winter packages if that's what you decide to do. (also 1 wedding at a time)

Swan club was reasonably priced for all seasons, and it includes a lot so that is another option. Giorgio's is having a special of a 10K wedding based on 100 guests for 2012.

I would also like to suggest if you move your wedding to January/February you will get amazing deals on vendors since its non-prime season so again know what the costs are before you decide to do that. $110p/p is a lot to pay in the winter, when vendors wont charge the same price for their services.

I hope this helps!

Re: Winter weddings

Thank you for all of your responses! The thing is, our hall is expensive in general. We are booked for April, and if we were to switch to nighttime on our same date, it would be $175/person with 185 minimum...insane. Since we don't want to switch venues, this is really a good deal for us. We love the hall, customer service is great, food in fantastic, and it's close to our homes and church. My main concern is the blizzard/snow/no-shows aspect...lol

there's absolutely nothing wrong with a winter wedding - if you want a night-time wedding and don't mind the cold, then go for it!

I am doing a winter wedding and once I got started planning it - i have been havign so much fun with it. Im doing a whole winter wonderland theme.
110 is NOT a lot depending on the hall. I Can tell you that is only 2/3 of what i am paying for my winter wedding!

Re: Winter weddings

Thanks, ladies Again, I think winter weddings are gorgeous, not concerned with that at all!!!! My concern is that there may be a blizzard and my guests won't be able to show/vendors won't make it/wedding will have to get cancelled!!! I guess no one can really predict that, but it's a scary thought.

Well it seems that you are only going to winter because you want it at night. Why have you changed your mind about having a day wedding...and keeping your hall and cost down for the time of season you would prefer?

We originally wanted a daytime wedding because we went to one last year, and it was so pretty....beautiful grounds and sunlight! But as we've gotten further into planning, we are realizing that daytime would be just too difficult for us with getting ready, pictures, OOT guests. Nighttime would give us more time in our day, and we just don't want to feel as rushed. Also, we like the option of being able to add a venetian hour at night.

Would the venue be wiling to push the time w/ any change in price? I asked my venue and they told me yes. It made me feel so much better that I dont have to wake up at the crack of dawn now LOL

The price seems a lil excessive just to chnage it to a night time wedding.

What types of prices are people getting for Winter Weddings? I am looking at 150-170 ppl in the Nassau area.

We had them put a stipulation in our contract. The best they said they could do is agree that if 3-4 months before our date a night wedding isn't booked, we could push our time up.
