Wisdom tooth! Updated****

I am getting my wisdom tooth pulled this time tomorrow morning! I am soo terrified. Summer of 05 I had my first wisdom tooth pulled. The doctor prescribed me tylenol with codine. It wasnt doing anything for the pain but i kept taking it, I almost overdosed on it. I actually passed out and my eyes rolled back. Dentist said I reacted like that because it was too stron for my body.. but then why didnt it stop the pain? Im worried that the medication won't work for the pain because I dont want to take the codine again.Do you think if i ask, they can prescribe vicatin? Hey it works for House.

Update:

SO i go in today to get the tooth pulled. They had me with the guy i didnt like. I had the nicer one last time. The guy I wouldve had today doesnt believe in laughing gas or anything else to ease the pain. Are you kidding me!! I rescheduled for next thursday. Problem is now, that i hope i am feeling up to going out friday for the GTG.

They should be able to prescribe something else for you. Ask him when you go tomorrow. Good luck. Hopefully it won't be as painful as last time.

I plan on it. You think they will give me that. My mom says they probably wont give me vicodin.

My oral surgeon gave me vicodin. You shouldn't have a problem...

Yes, ask for the vicodine. I had 3 wisdoms pulled at the same time and with the vicodine i was hardly in any pain at all. You'll be fine just try and relax! Good luck!

i Know of many people who were prescribed vicodin for pain after that..I would definately ask him

I've had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled out on 2 separate occasions. Both times my oral surgeon presribed Vicodin, which really helped with the pain. Just let your oral surgeon know that the Tylenol with Codeine did not help with the pain and if he can give you a precription for vicodin or percocet.

You should be fine. I had all of my wisdom teeth pulled and I survived on Aleve. But I just had some other insane dental work done recently and they put me on Vicodin (500 mg) and it was the best thing for the pain. They should absolutely give you something to help.
