Wish me luck!-Went Dress shopping Today (LONG) Now w/ PIC

Original post by bluekat16

Tomorrow I'm going to try on dresses at Lillette's and The Wedding Plaza.

Wish me luck...hopefully i get good customer service and find a dress I like. The only thing is I forgot to bring my Spanx from FH's house Oh well...I'll be extra marshmellowy looking...

I'll post pics of the ones I like the best.

*******UPDATE*********

SO I went dress shopping today and it wasa little overwhelming.

I ended up loving a dress that I orginally thought would never look good on me and it looked stunning on me. However the dresses I thought would have looked good on me made me look like a line backer.

I'm very self-councious about my arms (plus size bride) but the dresses that had lacey or spandex sleevs only accentuated my arms even more. The strapless dress just didn't draw attention to my lin-backer arms.

I wish I had pics but unfortunately I couldn't figure out how to turn off the flash on my camera to sneek in some pics.

MY brother sneaked one...I will try to post shortly.

OMG - this is my big fear! My arms are about the size of my thighs and I have very sloping shoulders. And it's impossible to find anything with sleeves that aren't form fitting or see through. I'm actually dreading it But your dress looks georgous! Congrats to you for finding one that looks beautiful on you AND you're comfortable in!

I complewtely understand your fear...which is why when I tried on this dress and it was sleeveless I thought NO WAY! But I realized that I looked better with something sleeveless than with some that had sleeves. I felt like I looked HOT but didn't like my arms...however I realized I was the only one looking at them. Everynone else was looking at me, not at my arms.

Now I have motivation to work out my arms and back even more at the gym

I think the dress is very flattering for you. What do you think of a bolero style jacket from the same type of fabric as your gown. That fabric might be better than a lace or thin chiffon

Thank you I'm going to have a bolero jacket done for it in the thin chiffon. This was if I feel completely self-concioous I have an option and my wedding is in winter so I should have that option anyway

Right now I'm really thinking of just going sleevelss....I never thought I would think sleeveless was even an option.

I think that's great to give yourself the option! You really never know how something will truly look until you try it
