It's funny, my shower was 2 weeks ago, and there was a wishing well - and I had no idea WTH it was! I went to open gifts and pulled that in front of me first going 'oh cool, someone got me a big basket of goodies!' I of course got yelled at to save it for last. Whatever, I haven't been to many showers in my life.
To answer your question - I have no idea what is 'supposed' to be done, but I can tell you that none of the items were tagged, so it's supposed to be anonymous I guess...... And some were wrapped but most weren't. I didn't care either way - they were all presents for me!

Re: Wishing well gifts?
Most of my 'bbq' wishing well items were not wrapped & you usually never put tags on.

most of mine weren't wrapped. Just with a ribbon and a little card or no card at all.

Re: Wishing well gifts?
It depends on what the bride would like. Some would like them wrapped all fancy like the regular gifts and other girls just tissue paper and yet others not wrapped at all. They are usually placed in the wishing well with no name on them., but as I said each bride is different and some may want the givers name on it. I would ask the bride or the person giving the shower.

It doesn't really matter. In my wishing well, somethings were wrapped, some weren't, and some of them had tags.

Re: Wishing well gifts?
I don't wrap wishing well gifts or put a tag on them. I usually get some pretty dish towels and some wooden cook spoons and tie them together with some ribbon.
