Wishing Wells
I was wondering what everyone is doing about the wishing well. I saw a few that were actually not wells but cakes or mailboxes that looked nice, but were $200+. Are you using one? Not using one? and if not, how will you handle the cards? Diana

are you talking about for the shower or something to hold the wedding cards at the actual wedding? for the wedding, my sister is wrapping a box for me like a present and putting a slit at the top to drop in envelopes... for a shower you may be able to rent them or the idea for a laundry basket can serve a double purpose...a gift for the new couple and a wishing well...

I have decorated a laundry basket or a hamper. Just hot glue a few bows to the basket. It is cheaper and more useful than the rental wishing wells.

my BMS made one out of a Rubbermaid garbage can. Used a broom and a swifter for the poles and made the cover ..the awning of the well. Covered it in white paper and white & pink bows. Much more practical.. For the reception, my husbands aunt made a treasure box. Got it from Michaels. Was a small trunk that was covered in white damask and edged with tiny lace. She added silk flowers that exactly matched the ones on my dress. We placed it on our table and guests dropped in their cards. At the end of the night we latched it closed and my FIL stood guard over it! I now have it on my bureau with all the cards, my main list of guests/addresses/presents, and some of the casual pics in it.

We rented a mail box from a place upstairs from Di Res Formalwear, the tuxedo shop joined to Royalty Limosines in Franklin Square. I believe it was only $50, which we felt was very reasonable.

Someone gave me what they used at their wedding. It's a very sturdy heart shaped box with a slit in it, and decorated with flowers, lace, etc. It's really pretty. Her mom made it.Welcome New Vendors
