I've noticed the ww, in some of the shower pics that have all kinds of cool stuff in! I've never seen this at a shower around here! I've only seen wishing wells at weddings to put money/checks into. Can you tell me about this tradition, and what gifts go into the wishing well? I like it!! Mary MOB

Re: Wishing Wells at Showers
I think it depends!! At showers I've been to it has been like small household gadgets (like whisks, measuring cups, potholders, etc!).
I think some people do specific things like everyone brings a pair of panties or other silly fun things!

Re: Wishing Wells at Showers
I'm not sure of the WIshing Well traditions but I love them!!! Most of the time it's the little things that go in them. I went to a shower where there were ziplock freezer bags (for the house) to Thongs (for the bedroom!!!)!!!!
I hope I get a wishing well at my shower!

Re: Wishing Wells at Showers
I remember having a wishing well at my shower 35 years ago! Then you would put small inexpensive items (measuring spoons, spatulas, potholder, etc) into it. Nowadays, when so many couples have their households already set up before they get married, they already have these things, so some people have a theme for it. Someone on LIW had a wine wishing well where everyone put in a bottle of their favorite. I like this idea much better!!

Re: Wishing Wells at Showers
I have also seen wishing wells that weren't wishing wells, per se, but something that the bride can re-use, such as a really nice laundry hamper. One shower they had actually converted a laundry basket into a wishing well.

Yes I love that idea with the wine wishing well. I have also seen movie night wishing wells, where guests bring a favorite DVD to start the NW's movie collection. I am hoping my girls and my Mom plan a 'non-traditional' wishing well for my shower

I've also seen A-Z wishing wells where each person brings something small that starts with the letter of the alphabet they receive in their invitation.

I have a lot of this stuff from when I had my own apartment and I didn't buy the cheap stuff. I'm going to let my BMs know to have a different kind of wishing well.

Mary here is one that you might like:
Take two coolers (one red - hers/one blue - his) and fill that as the wishing wells. It keeps with the beach theme but they can get things they would use everyday.
The shower I went to that had this the girls mother set up a beach chair and umbrella in between the two. The girls from the bridal party put in beach towels, flip flops, sun screen, goggles in it and everyone else filled it in with traditional stuff. it was cute.
