wondering about the weather on your wedding day?

wondering about the weather on your wedding day?

Try Farmers Almanac online or the actually book. Online, you can get the forecast thru next month..just go to the webpage, farmersalmanac.com
and click on weather. Then click Zone 1 and the forecast for May and June will come up. (online almanac will only give you 2 mths ahead)
I have used this method to plan several camping trips and it's been accurate so far!!
(The almanac says my wedding weekend is going to be sunny and warm....yeah!!) :) JOY

If you go on the knot.com, sometimes they have this advertisement that shows 'wondering what your weather for your wedding day would be like?' Click on that and it will show you weather stats for the last 20 years and the chance of rain for your day. You'll see it in the top right hand corner... shows a flashing umbrella... Hope this helps!

It says heavy rain and then turning fair for June 20 -23rd

I think I'm going to cry ... it's suppose to be an outdoor ceremony/cocktail hour! How accurate is this really?

Words of wisdom from a bride...

Hi Ladies, I know you're all going to stress over the weather on your day, but take it from one who's already been through it, you can't worry and stress and agonize over something you really have no control over!! I was like you, TOTALLY stressing over the weather -- I had my mother doing her rosary thing and hanging the saint in the window (and every other wives tale I could think of) -- only to wake up to a miserable day the morning of! As I was getting my hair done, it was POURING and my hairdresser kept telling me it was the air conditioner -- yeah right, it was the rain HITTING the a/c. Anyway, for some strange reason, totally unusual for me, I wasn't flipping out -- I felt like I was having an out-of-body experience and just told myself 'whatever' -- it was going to happen anyway, right?!

Well, at 1PM, when the photographer got there and the videographer (who both told me how it was pouring in LI, but as they approached Queens it was getting clearer), the SUN CAME OUT!!! By the time we left for the church at 2:45, it was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL out and the sky was blue and you never would have known it rained at all that day. Even the ground was dry because we still went to the park and took our pictures -- no mud, no stained, runny shoes, etc.

So, my babbling is going to end now as I tell you all to please don't stress yourselves out over this, there's so much other stuff you'll be stressing over that you can control. Unfortunately the weather is something you can't. It won't make your day any LESS special and wonderful!!!!!

I wish you all good luck and have fun in your planning!!!

From, 'An old married lady of 7 months' (as of Monday)!!!! :)

Thanks bearsbabe, but I'm still freaking ...

out! I swore I was not going to look at the Almanac and then I saw that Joy was going to have a nice day (the weekend before me), I just figured what the hell! Now, everyone is trying to tell me that the almanac is not completely accurate - which I know - but I'm still disappointed! My banquet manager told me, when we booked, that many girls have changed dates due to the almanac and some regretted it - because it is just a prediction. I mean the weatherman is wrong a lot of times too - and that's only 5 days out. Mother nature does not like being controlled! :-(
I know I don't need to stress over this and believe me, I'm trying not to. But how do you? I still have the knot in my stomach since yesterday - this is totally unbelievable! I'm over-stressing! Uh - Breathe!
But thanks for your comment - it does help! :-)

Cira, take a deep breath!!! I totally feel for you

and I know nothing anybody says is going to make you stop freaking! Believe me! I had several anxiety attacks the week of the wedding, not to mention one ON THE ALTAR WHILE SAYING MY VOWS!!!! But as I look back, I really don't know why I flipped over half the stuff because the day of, I swear to you, I didn't give it a second thought -- none of it!! Please try and enjoy this time and don't let the stuff out of your control make you freak. You're going to have a beautiful day -- no matter what the almanac or weatherman or Joe Schmo tells you! It's your wedding day and that should say it all!!!!! Calm down!! :)

I know what you mean

The Almanac says thunderstorms and rain for my wedding weekend. What made me feel better is that it said that about every weekend in August, so matter what day we picked, we would have been out of luck! I'm just hoping for the best!

More words of wisdom about the weather...long

Much like Bearsbabe, I too was worried about the weather. I was married last June 3rd.

The forecast that was reported the night before my wedding AND the morning of was 'heavy rain and hail with thunderstorms likely.' Talk about FREAKING OUT!

When I went to bed, I said a prayer and left it up to God. I told myself that I was getting married the next day, regardless of the weather! The irony was, I had planned a seaside-themed wedding at the Port Jeff CC, and if it rained, the whole mood would have been changed. All those big, beautiful windows at the club would have showcased a dreary, cold and miserable view of the water.

But, just as I was slipping into my dress, the sun started to peak through the clouds. By the time the photographer was ready to take me outside, it was beautifully sunny with a slight breeze - my Mom and I could hardly believe it!

At the ceremony, our priest even commented on what a powerful blessing from God the beautiful weather turned out to be!

The sun held out for our cocktail hour on the deck at PJCC, and we even had the most breath-taking sunset!

So, don't stress about the weather, b/c like the others said, you can't control it, and you never know what will happen.
Enjoy your day no matter what!
Best wishes to everyone.

Hurricane Season...and a September wedding

I have read in 3 different places this is going to be a bad hurricane season, with 7 possible major storms. September falls right in that season, unfortunately. Richie and I spoke about it, and we decided that we can't stress over it, so if it happens, we will just go to the church with who ever can make it, even if it is just US! I have no idea what contingency plan there could possibly be for this.

I feel the same way. I am totally stressing over the whole weather thing and guess what? My wedding is not for another 421 days!

I know I can't control the weather and I know its good luck if it rains on your wedding day, but I will be upset if it rains. The last 3 weddings I went to, each girl had a beautiful day and I just hope I can have one too.

Cira...

I'm sorry I got you so upset! I guess I was just happy about the report saying my weekend was going to be nice, that I wanted to share.
But realistically, the info in the almanac is compiled from many, many years of data...so it's really only a prediction (much like the site that you can access thru the knot.com)
Anyway, I don't want you to stress out. We are all trying our best to make our wedding day perfect...doing everything we can to control the things that are controllable. Weather is not one of them!!! Your wedding is going to be beautiful and fun no matter what the weather is like, don't forget that.
And besides...the way I'm thinking is...if it rains on my wedding day, at least we can be inside with the A/C and not be sweating out in the blazing June sun!! (we are planning on having a garden ceremony)
So...relax and enjoy your day no matter what the weather is like. Hey, it can't snow right?!!! ;)
