I'm down to my final 3 choices for a reception hall (thank you everyone for your suggestions!).
I loved Woodbury CC, Milleridge Inn and Westbury Manor. Please help!!! I'm not sure if it matters but it will be a Saturday day wedding in November. Oh...while I'm at it - is there any reason not to do a day wedding vs. night wedding?
Thanks all!

Re: Woodbury Country Club vs. Milleridge Inn
I'm having a Sunday day wedding at Woodbury CC on October of next year, so obviously, I'm a little biased. However, I think each place is so different from one another that it's all a matter of what you prefer. Westbury Manor was too dark and not quite what we were looking for as far as the grounds and premises, and not as private as we would have liked, so we didn't even ask to speak with someone there. I haven't been to Milleridge Inn in many years, but from what I remember, I didn't really even consider it. I love the grounds at Woodbury and all the things that they offer as part of their standard practices, and I think they offer a lot more in the way of food than a lot of other places, but I have no comparison for either Westbury Manor or Milleridge in that respect. It's really a matter of opinion, but I have to say that I have never heard a negative thing about WCC, which really sealed the deal for us.
Good luck with whatever you decide. There are pluses and minuses to every place - you just have to weigh those out and go with your heart (or your wallet as the case may be).

Re: Woodbury Country Club vs. Milleridge Inn
We booked Westbury Manor. I have been to Milleridge when I was younger, but don't remember much except that it was pretty and Victorian. I have never been to WCC. We booked Westbury Manor because we like the Scotto Brothers reputation and the food is great. We also like the feeling of the place because it has a lot of history. I loved the fact that the stairs and the wooden floor boards squeak (some people probably don't like it for that reason). FH LOVES the fact that there are real gaslit lamps that line the driveway and are on the balcony leading out to the cocktail hour. We liked the authenticity of the place. Westbury Manor spoke to me when I walked in. Other places didn't.
Go with your heart.

I personally think the Millerridge is the nicest of your choices. I love it there!

Re: Woodbury Country Club vs. Milleridge Inn
Another Woodbury Country Club bride here! We are getting married next October on a Sunday afternoon.
We fell in love with the place the minute we walked in. The grounds were unbelievable. We wanted an outside ceremony so we needed a daytime affair and awesome grounds.
I have been to a few weddings at Westbury. They were great ones! I just wanted something different from my friends. I have never been to a wedding at Millerage, but I hear it is great! It was too small for us so we didn't look there.
You have to follow your heart (and wallet) on this. Where do you find yourself having the wedding of your dreams b/c then that's the place!

Re: Woodbury Country Club vs. Milleridge Inn
I have no input on any of those places, but I am a Saturday 'Day' wedding.
I don't think there is any reason not to have a day wedding. I think its perfect for me as we may have out of town guest who will probably leave early the next day. The whole thing is over around 5pm. Since im in late October I thought that would also take care of any chill that may come during the evening hours. Besides, as well all know, it's dark already these days by 5ish.
Night wedding just seemed to draining for me and FH.
Either way works though, so it's up to you.

Re: Woodbury Country Club vs. Milleridge Inn
I am getting married at WCC 9/10/04-a Friday night wedding. I have neve been the Westbury Manor or Milleridge. But I did call Milleridge when we were looking at halls and they wouln't even consider us because they said they couldn't accomodate 100-140 guests, so they told us to call their sister hall-Georger Washington Manor. The pics of Milleridge that I saw lokoed nice, very Victorian. Westbury Manor has a few affairs going on at once, so we really did not want that kind of atmosphere. I am biased to WCC, I love love love the grounds and they gave us a lot of food for our money. They also gave us the best price quote of the places we looked at. Go with your heart...any place that you will choose, you will love.

The only thing I can add is that at Milleridge if you use the cottage you will be the only bride and have the place to yourselves. Of course I'm biased there, but thats a personal opinion.

I'm biased too because I'm getting married at the Milleridge Cottage House...I fell in love the minute I walked in and knowing that the whole cottage is ours for the day was a real selling point!

Re: Woodbury Country Club vs. Milleridge Inn
I'm biased to the Milleridge Inn! I used to work there and had my wedding there. It was exaclty what I wanted. I'm not a fan of the Westbury Manor. I worked there for a very short period of time and quit because they were very rude and sketchy in my experience and not very fair when it came to dividing up tips.

Re: Woodbury Country Club vs. Milleridge Inn
Thank you all!!
I took my FI, mother and close friend of the family to the WCC, Milleridge Inn and Westbury Manor and they all fell in love with the Manor (although I loved the place I didn't love the banquet manager. He was on his best behavior last night when I came back for a second visit - funny how that happens)...so there it goes. I'll hopefully finalize the date by the end of this week.
