Hi Brides! I'm new to LIW, just became engaged about 3 weeks ago and I would love some input!! We are seriously considering The Woodlands for our NYE 2012 wedding but....we went to a tasting and we weren't wowed by the food. Anyone been to a wedding there recently?? I need to give them an answer on Monday and I'm seriously stressing!! Thanks so much your help-this site is amazing!

Re: Woodlands??
I know it's beautiful there. What are the reasons why you like it?

Re: Woodlands??
I went there for a showcase and I liked the food. I wasn't wowed but as far as wedding food goes it was really good

Re: Woodlands??
Out of all the wedding I've been to I don't think I've ever been wowed by the food.I think they are all very similar.

Re: Woodlands??
We love the overall feel of the venue-the old charm, the high ceilings, the whole mansion feel but I just wasn't crazy about the food and food is really important to us. I think part of the problem is that we are trying to decide between a LIW or doing it in Vermont, where we ere engaged. The place in Vermont is a culinary institute! Food is amazing! So, I think it just comes down to if we are comfortable doing a destination wedding or if we want to do it on LI. I'm feeling very torn.

Re: Woodlands??
im name dropping my venue - the de seversky mansion. the food there is amazing and it belongs to the nyit campus. not sure how the food is done, but there is a culinary institute on campus. ive been to a wedding at woodlands, dont remember hating the food - but dont really remember it standing out for any reason except for the abundance of food at cocktail hour.

Re: Woodlands??
you cant compare a venue w a cul;inry intitute. with that being said if you like the food and feel of the place i would book. i would think u will have a larger turnut if u d the wedding here and less travel expense for guests and such.but it sounds like u r so torn. have u looked at other venue hat hae the old world charm? ihavent been to the woodlands so i am not failiar but maybe fox hollow or westbury manor would give u the same vibe w better food.
u have to first envision ur day and go from there. once u can see ur vision it will make the choice easier.. hth gl

Re: Woodlands??
We considered the Woodlands for a hot second, and FH & I also wanted a rustic/old world feeling for our venue. We ended up exactly where I thought we would since I first saw pictures of Fox Hollow - definitely check it out, try some food at their restaurant.
As a total foodie, I do love the idea of a wedding at a culinary institute so check out all your main LI options first and then decide.

Re: Woodlands??
How many people are you planning on having? I went to a wedding there, and the cocktail hour was not conducive for the amount of people...hard to get to the food and there was not enough seating. If you are planning on having over 200, I would consider the available space. Grounds and building are beautiful though

It's a nice place but I wasn't wowed by it either. If food is very important to your and your guests, I would keep looking.

Re: Woodlands??
I've heard just the opposite... for wedding food, the taste and quality of the Woodlands' food is apparently unbelievable! My mom has been to several smaller dinner events in their upstairs room and has always raved about it. FH and I visited twice when they were prepping for a wedding and the smells were delicious. We booked knowing that for wedding food, it was going to be good on top of having the perfect feeling of elegance and beauty throughout the mansion! Customer service was through the roof...couldn't say no!

Thanks for all the input!!! After weighing all our options, we decided to go with the Woodlands! I feel so excited and relieved! I think I was just super nervous about making such a big decision!

Another Woodlands bride! YAY! I went to a tasting and I really liked the food. I'm going to the showcase on April 30 to taste some more. You should definitely be happy with your decision! Everytime I call them Debi is sooooo helpful and she makes everything so easy! I can't wait for my wedding there :)
