Woodlands or North Ritz Club

Woodlands or North Ritz Club

Hi guys,

i'm new at this, just got engaged NYE and we're now considering on looking for reception places... we have narrowed it down on the Woodlands and North Ritz Club..
Well my fiance like the NRC and i obviously like the woodlands..
We're hesitating on the woodlands is because of the setup of the ballroom.. the dancefloor is way too small and if we have a band there, it takes up half the dancefloor already.. plus where they seat the bride and groom is just not nice.. they stick you in the side of the door.. everyone will wonder where you are.. another thing is that the people in the back won't feel part of a wedding.. they're so far out there that they can't see anything nor participate on anything.. just a bad layout.. BUT I really like it and the price is right (love the carlyle but way too pricey)
plus the cocktail room is way small (we're having around 250 guests...)
Did anyone have a wedding there recently?!? Please share your experience.. i'm getting sleepless nights due to this..
I don't really like NCR.. my heart's not in it...any nice things to say about NCR?

PLEASE HELP

Hi! Well I booked the NRC so I will tell you the things I loved about it versus other halls. AS you mentioned you didn't like the dance floor at Woodlands, NRC has a huge dance floor and callroon. It is a perfect layout for a band and I really like the bar area. Depending on what time of year you are getting married, I also love the CH settting where you can be indoors and outdoors and still all be together. The people that work at the NRC are so nice and always make us feel welcome. Another thing is the great bridal suite. Good luck!

Personally I would pick the Woodlands. Yes, the ballroom layout is a little weird, but the pluses outweigh the minuses. The food is great. Also, the long winding drive to that beautiful house...the party will have a very intimate feel because you feel like your in somebody's house with the charming decor and the beautiful chandeliers. I think the Woodlands has a very special feel.

I obviously love NRC Im sorry you dont but no matter what arguements I have for why I do you should keep looking. How about the watermill? I loved it there but it was too far and I wanted a one party place and even though the watermill only had two rooms and seperate facilities I loved NRC better. Dont let anyone convince you why you should like someplace you need to feel it when you walk in.
Good Luck

I feel the same. We were going to book there until we saw the Carlyle. We had reservations about the dance floor too....but, I remember them saying that they were making it larger? You might want to check on that. Also, we're paying less at the Carlyle than what we were quoted at the Woodlands. That could be b/c we're getting married in Carlyle's 'off-season.' If you really like the Carlyle, you should try and negotiate.

Re: Woodlands or North Ritz Club/ Will the Catholic Church marry during Lent?

Really? The Carlyle's was less expensive than Woodlands.. Wow we might reconsider and a saturday wedding too? The problem with getting married in March is it's Lent, we're not sure if the Catholic church will marry us?

That would be great if we can get the Carlyle

You're getting married in May, so that's their prime season...we're in March in their off-season, on a Sat night, so that's why it's less expensive. I remember the Woodlands not having seasonal flexibility. Plus, I thought you got more for your $$ at the Carlyle, their basic menu is more extensive..the Woodlands seemed like a lot of add-ons would be expensive....
The church should be able to marry you on a Sat during lent...
You should tell the Carlyle your dilemma..they might be able to get the price down. Also, if you're flexible on day of the week, that would help too. A Friday night as opposed to a Sat night?

Good luck. Let me know how it turns out!

I would also suggest checking out Carlyle- a lot of people say that the Woodlands and North Ritz have the same feel as Carlyle.

Obviously, I booked the NRC b/c I really love the place. I loved the decor of the Woodlands and the menu, but we didn't book it b/c of the same reasons-where we sit and the lack of dance floor space (we're having a band, too). I agree with another bride's response...keep looking. You shouldn't be convinced the NRC nor Woodlands are for you. You seem to have reservations about both. A few others that were in the same price range I personally liked are Fox Hollow and Westbury Manor. Carlyle is beautiful, but was out of my price range in June.
Good luck!!

We looked at Woodlands, NRC and Carlyle (which we booked) too. I really liked Woodlands, but I had some of the same doubts as you and then just fell in love with the Carlyle. First, I would definitely try negotiating with Carlyle more or switching your time of year or day. We are getting married on Friday which brought down the cost and made the Carlyle only a little bit more expensive than what the Woodlands would have been for a Friday night too. Second, it sounds to me that you are looking for a place that has a feel similar to the Woodlands and Carlyle. While NRC is beautiful, IMO it didn't have the same feel as the other two. Carlyle and Woodlands are more 'mansiony', which is what I was looking for and it sounds like you may be too. Good luck and wherever you choose will be great because all 3 are beautiful and offer so much!!!
