are there any girls that got married at the Woodlands who wouldn't mind sharing their photos of the grand ballroom setup with their flowers/uplighting, etc? I'm thinking of booking and the room seems rather dark, so I'm afraid my colors I have in mind may not pop

Re: Woodlands Reception Photos
I went to a wedding at Woodlands recently and it was beautiful. There was no uplighting and the CPs were very low with a few candles scattered across the tables. It was a night wedding and the room was still more than bright enough. With the addition of uplighting, you should be fine. Sorry, I don't have any photos though.

well i was going to try and avoid uplighting if possible...and i love candlelight...but i really wnted to do black and white with some dark red and pink...i'm just afraid dark red and black will make the room look so dark...

Re: Woodlands Reception Photos
I just got married at the Woodlands 2 weeks ago and I don't think you have to worry about it being too dark -- I initially worried about it too. We had tall centerpieces with hanging tealights and more tealights on each table and it was exactly the look I was going for -- the whole room looked beautiful -- bathed in soft candlelight.
I didn't consider uplighting because in my opinion, it cheapens the look of the ballroom in the Woodlands and makes it harder for guests to notice the old and unique details of the space (again, that's just my opinion! I mean no offense whatsoever - it just wasn't the look we were going for)
The sconces and chandeliers are all on dimmers too, so you can adjust the brightness in the room as well
I'm sorry, I don't have any pics of the centerpieces or lighting in the room just yet, but I'll def send you a picture when i get some!

Re: Woodlands Reception Photos
i was at a wedding there a few years ago - she had purple uplighting in the ballroom. it was beautiful! im not usually a fan of it, but it totally set the mood in that room. and it didnt cheapen the feel at all. in fact, it highlighted the beautiful room even more. we're having our reception at de seversky and i've decided not to have uplighting there - but only because their ballroom is wood-panelled and i thought i might work against the antique look im going for. but honestly, i think it works extremely well in the woodlands. i say go for it. wish i had photos but i dont :(

Oh no, I don't think it'll be too dark. And like the pp mentioned, they have the wall sconces that they can make dimmer or brighter as you please. The wedding I went to had purple and red CPs and it wasn't dark at all. She had ivory linens. Not sure if they were provided by the hall, but I think they were.
ETA: Here's a photo. Please note I cannot take credit for this photo.
ETAA: This was during CH though. They dimmed these lights later on when everyone danced. At no point in the evening did I feel that it was too dark OR too bright. It was just right. HTH!
