My new computer has Word set up with no arrows to move the vertical ruler on the left side of the page. How do I set that up to show without having to format the page each time I open a new document? I tried page setup and that changes default settings but does not make the arrows appear. TIA!

Go to VIEW, print layout. Did that help?

That's what I'm in and for some reason it doesn't show. Thank you though!

Re: Word formatting question...
Try 'View' then 'Ruler'.

It shows the ruler, but still not the arrows. And it's just on my home laptop! Weird...Thanks though!

Re: Word formatting question...
THis is kinda hard to explain, but if you hover your mouse at the top of the margin--where the ruler goes from white to gray, the cursor should turn into a two-headed arrow thingy, so you can adjust it. Does that make sense? Is that what you were trying to do?
