Without naming names or going into which post it was, I just read a post where the bride wanted some feedback on a reception hall. I read the responses, where 4/5 were negative saying the place and food an decor were bad and not worth the money. Which I think is perfectly acceptable to give your opinion. Then I looked at the profile of the original poster, and it turns out she was getting married at this reception place. I am sure she's not feeling to great about her reception hall after all the negative posts. I would've felt horrible if it were me. So I just wanted everyone to remember that posting a negative comment is perfectly fine, but sometimes it may be helpful to look one step further.

Then what's the point of asking for feedback? If people are not going to give their honest opinions then why ask for it in the first place. If someone books at a certain place and then sees bad reviews here on the boards, that is not our fault. Everyone has their own opinion of the place where their reception is being held, and what we might think as wonderful, others may think 'yuck!' That's just the way it is.

Yes, I understand that completley. You missed my point.... A little thought goes a long way.... She wasn't asking fo good reviews or bad. Although I didn't post the original question, I beleive she was looking for someon else getting married at her reception place so she could share ideas. I just felt bad everyone told her the place was bad. Enough said.
I saw that too and the point of the post was missed...she was looking for other brides, not opinions...

I agree chmlengr...me too
Their was absolutely no reason to give her negative feedback since she said she had already booked the place.

I agree with Vicki, So what she got negative feedback
Big deal, this board is not going to be 'censored' because she got feedback she didn't ask for, so what? people are allowed to tell their experiences about any hall, vendor , dj, etc. good bad or indifferent! Come 'on ladies..let's be adults.

The poster did not say she booked the place - I determined that from her profile. Also, I should have clarififed in my first post that she didn't ask for 'feedback', she simply wanted to know if any other bride booked 'such & such place'. The responses provided a majority of negative feedback, which I agree is perfectly acceptable when asking for feedback. However, a little more thought before posting would've realized that she just wanted other brides to plan with.
I am glad that you both agree with me. I'd hate that to happen to me :)

I never implied that we should start 'censoring'. I never implied you shouldn't give negative feedback. I never implied that we weren't adults. I just wanted to point out that the negative comments were unnecessary being that wasn't what she was asking for.
And in your very own words to another poster - 'get over it'.

It probably made this poster feel terrible about the choice she made after she got so much negative feedback. If she had asked for peoples opinions... that's one thing, but to just give her negative feedback is in poor taste, although I tend to think that the people who posted the feedback thought they were doing her a favor not realizing that she already booked that particular hall.

okay you made your point. Not everyone has to agree with you. Vicki & Nubride are entitled to disagree with your point. Dont negate the niceness of your first post by being nasty to those who are not agreeing with you. Also it is my opinion that there is no need to play policeman here, LIweddings allready has that job and handles the board very well if they think something is inapropriate.

Thank You Alessia
Enough said about this already...she obviously was trying to police the board and regardless whether she booked the place or not, an opinion is just that, an opinion.

No one, especially me, is trying to police the boards. Just as your opinions and comments, good or bad, are welcome, so should my suggestions. Again, to put this to bed, I simply stated (I have that right, don't I?)that I thought the responders missed the point of the initial post, and instead of creating needless worry for some bride, I thought it would be better left unsaid unless the poster was specifically asking for feedback, which she clearly wasn't. I consider myself removed from this post :) Thanks to all you read and understood.

If she asked about others who may have booked 'such and such' a place, of course people are going to tell her about their experiences. It's natural for people to do that.
Just like if she asked for who's used X Photography - people are going to tell her 'Oh, don't book with X! They're terrible!' While others will tell her they had a wonderful experience with X photography.
If she didn't want feedback then she should have worded her question differently and specifically asked for brides who are using X place.
And for the record, I have no idea what post this all came from - I'm just responding to your original one.
