I was told never to put your exact wedding date in the announcement - because it makes your house a target for robbery -
it is better to put they will be marrying the summer of 2005
also it is a good idea to have someone keep an eye on the house if possible
just a word of advice not hat it has to be followed - but there are some disturbed people in the world

That is good advice. Not too long ago someone mentioned that decorating the outside of the house is also something to be careful with since it draws attention.

My FFIL is planning on hiring security to watch his house the night of the wedding..
When he and FMIL got married- his father's house got broken into.. Now this was like 35 years ago.. but, people are freakin sick!

Yes I was just going to say that. Don't put bows or ballons on the outside of the house. There are sickos out there.

This is what makes me paranoid about the fact that I lost one of my invitations! I posted the other day and asked 'Did a good samaritan LIW bride find my wedding invitation?' I was riding the LIRR and I had the last invitations to mail. One slipped out of my hand (unbeknownst to me until it was too late). My name, address, date of wedding, time of wedding etc., is all there for everyone to see. I can't even find out if somebody was kind enough to mail it for me because the party I sent it to is out of town indefinitely. I need prayers and lots of good thoughts here.

Isn't sad that we have to be so secretive sometimes?! However, you can come to one of these forums and find out SOOOOOOOO much info about each of us!!

Re: word of caution on engagement announcements
ALSO, if you are having you're house decorated make sure you take them down or someone take them down after the church--cause that is also a target to let people know you are not home!!!!
