Wording for Divorced Parents

Wording for Divorced Parents

Hi ladies I need your help!

My FH parents are divorced and both got remarried. When it comes to the wording on the invitation we originally were just going to put his mom and dad's name on it, but we found out that his step-dad was very upset that his name wouldn't be on it.

Sooo now my dilemma is how do we word both parents who are remarried with their spouses.

Do we just do the traditionaly Mr. & Mrs. for both (enough though technically his mother's name won't be written out anymore)

Or do we write out all four parents name like...

John & Jane Smith* without the Mr. & Mrs.

Thanks!

You could do something simple like...together with our parents/families

Re: Wording for Divorced Parents

This was crazy on our invite bc all parents are divorced in my case, and both of my parents are remarried. Our wording was:

Mr. & Mrs. Robert R. (my mom and stepdad)
and
Mr. & Mrs. Ronald R. (my dad and stepmom)
Request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter
Nancy Ann
to Brian Thomas
son of
Mr. Brian K. and Mrs. Patricia K.

If DH's parents got remarried we would have needed an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper for an invite!

Hope that helps!

Re: Wording for Divorced Parents

is it ok to write

Mr. & Mrs. (Mom's Name) (New Last Name)

so like: Mr. & Mrs. Jane Smith*

In your scenario, I'd include first names. Personally, I wouldn't want my mom to get listed as Mrs. Robert Doe (I've also always taken issue with a woman being introduced in this manner and refused for the DJ to announce us as Mr and Mrs John Smith at our wedding. We were introduced as Mr and Mrs John and Jane Smith).

we wrote out names for both parents because DHs parents are divorced and it didnt look grt having my parents as mr & mrs and not his.

I would put something along the lines together with our parents or with our family.

That way everyone feels included

I have seen all sets of parents listed one after the other, like this...

Mr. & Mrs. Jack Smith
Mr. & Mrs. John Doe
Mr. & Mrs. Sam Connor

Cordially invite you.....

I am sure if you wanted to spell out the woman's first name too, as someone else suggested, that would be fine too.

We did the '...together with their parents,...' bit and it worked out perfectly (it is also inclusive of both the bride and grooms' side, which is nice) - otherwise all the names were just too ridiculous and took up too much space!

The only names on the invitation that really matter are the two people getting married!

But, parental ego can of course be a powerful force... Good luck!

This is what we did! We would have had a million different parents names on there.
