Ok Question: My parents are paying for the entire Reception (which is more than 1/2 the wedding cost) the other half, FH and I are paying...... We live together, our money is together, btu he makes more money...... Now even though his mom is not chipping in we should still have her in there right?
I just liked one of the girls wording Together with our parents or somethign like that.
Does this reallly make a big big difference????
Any advice?

Re: Wording on invites - Including Parents or not
We have the same situation as u.
We put:
Mr. and Mrs. ______ announce the wedding of
Jennifer to George,
son of Mrs. _________.
His mom is a single mom now that his father passed away and I know she would have helped if she had the $.

I'm in the same boat..I'm not sure what to do. I think we're going traditional and saying.
Mr & Mrs. X and Mr. & Mrs. Z invite blah blah in the wedding of their children Diana and Vincent
Just cuz they're not paying doesn't really matter IMO.

Re: Wording on invites - Including Parents or not
Personally i am putting both sets of parents names on the invitation, regardless of how much someone is putting in or even if they weren't put in a dime i would still put their name. My parents have done so much for me over the years, raised me, supported me for how long so i dont want to base the value of my parents on this one thing...I dont want to give them recognition JUST because they are contributing and definitely wont take away all they've done if they weren't. I am putting their names down because simply they are my parents...And i wouldnt take away from fh's parents who have done so much for him

Re: Wording on invites - Including Parents or not
We didn't include our parents on our and wrote 'together with our families instead.' We only did this because it was too confusing as both of our parents are divorced, my dad has passed away so it was too much. What about something like:
Mrs. & Mrs. ____ (your parents) request the honour of your presence at the marriage of your name and FH name, son of _____ (FH parents)
or something like that. At least this way you are including her name even though it still shows your parents are hosting it.

Not a stupid question at all. I wrestled with this for a very long time because of somewhat similar reasons....and while I still wanted to respect all three sets of parents just for raising us (even though FH has issues w/his father and his lack of raising him), we ended up doing just Together with their Parents because his parents are both divorced and remarried, his dad wasn't always around and I won't even go into it......and honestly, lame reason or not, it was just way too crowded on the invite with all three sets of names. Maybe if the actual invite was bigger it would have been ok, but it just didn't fit.
In your situation though, I would def. suggest doing:
Mr and Mrs's bride's parents
Bride Groom
son of Mr and Mrs groom's parents

I am in the minority, If my parents were paying, and his parents wouldnt, i would not put their names and only put my parents names
If both sets of parents werent contributing, i would leave both out.
Both sets of parents are contributing so i am putting their names on the invites

Re: Wording on invites - Including Parents or not
neither of ours are contributing to the actual wedding but i'm going to do either 'together with their parents' or 'together with their families' because our family is very important and they might not be paying for the wedding but they are helping and have contributed in so many other ways.

Yea because it is saying your parents are requesting the presence of the guests which means they are the hosts

I dont know i think i just view it as this: if i had kids raised them, spent god knows how much money on them through the years even more than the cost of a wedding, provided a roof over their head, put money aside for their education, supported them emotionally and not only that but carried them around for 9 months of my life and then pushed them out of my BEEP and if for whatever reason i couldn't afford at the time to put in towards the wedding or whatever the situation might be then i would feel like WOW after all these years lets say 27 years of all the things ive done and i am not even acknowledged as your parent for the biggest day of your life i would beat them down ahahahahahahahaha

This is what we are going to do. I am traditionalist and wanted just my parents not for any other reason then the tradition of it -- but i know it is important to FH to include his parents so we are. This way just sounds a little a more formal to me -- but that is my opinion.

Same here. FH & I are paying for the entire wedding but we still put 'together with our families' I would have put our parents names if our situations weren't so confusing!

Re: Wording on invites - Including Parents or not
we haven't decided yet on our wording. I do feel strongly about NOT putting it as 'Mr & Mrs (parents) invite you to ....' . Because we are paying for the whole wedding ourselves. I would like to find a wording that has their names but not that they are hosting it. It's just my feelings on it - my FH and I are working our a$$ off to pay for this wedding!! Although I would still like to recognize our parents too. I saw wording that went kind of like...
Kristen Catherine daughter of Mr. & Mrs Last name
&
Kenneth Robert Son of Mr & Mrs Last name
invite you to join in their special day....

Re: Wording on invites - Including Parents or not
i kind of want to put just our names since we are paying for everything ourselves......but i like what espo said about its not just one thing - its your whole life that your parents help you and stuff like that......but at the same time i want people to know that FH and I did this wedding ourselves - because we are proud of ourselves for doing it!
