Wording -- settle this debate!!! UPDATED with new question!

Wording -- settle this debate!!! UPDATED with new question!

We are choosing the wording for the invitations to our wedding reception.

--The CEREMONY is taking place in Florence Italy in September.

--The RECEPTION that these invites are for is in October, about three weeks later.

--Invites will go out mid-July.

We want to be clear that this reception is taking place in New York, and is to celebrate our marriage that has already happened in Italy... we only want to put one date on the invite.

I need help with the middle section! Which is clearer taking into account all of the above?

CHOICE 1
...Request the pleasure of your company
at a reception to celebrate
their marriage in Florence, Italy...

CHOICE 2
...Request the pleasure of your company
at a reception to celebrate
their recent marriage in Florence, Italy...

TIA!!

ETA -- If I use 'recent marriage' -- does it matther they are getting the invites in July, when we are not married yet?!?! This seems confusing to me.

I would say choice 2 clarifies that you are having a celebration to celebrate a ceremony you had just recently in Florence (not the same time).

Choice 2 sounds better.

I agree - choice 2.

neither?

if i had to pick i would say #2 as to me #1 sounds like the reception will be in Italy...

i would reword to include New York, not Italy -if you want to make a reference to
Iitaly, then do it somehow around the New York statement...

JMO, it was confusing to me...

Do you even need to say the ceremony is to be in Italy? I think saying that may confuse some.

What if you put:

... Request the pleasure of your company
at the reception to celebrate their marriage....
