So my parents are contributing a substantial amount to our wedding (about 20% of the total cost). His parents have not mentioned any kind of contribution, but they did pay for 1/2 the engagement party with my parents. Do they both get put on the invitation? We're paying for everything else (the other 80+%).
I really want my parents names on the invite, but don't want his to be offended, especially b/c they did contribute towards the engagement party, though that's their only contribution (so far at least). I sort of want my parents names to have better 'placement' lol since they are contributing so much.
Thoughts?
I was thinking of:
Mr. & Mrs. John Smith invite you the marriage of their daughter Lisa Smith to Jason Sanders son of Mr. & Mrs. John Sanders etc.
Does that accomplish what I want? THANKS!

Re: Wording woes....
I dunno, wording it that kind of makes it sound like your parents are paying for the whole wedding. And you never know how much his parents will be giving as a wedding gift, it might be as much as your parents are paying. How does your fiance feel about it?

Re: Wording woes....
I was thinking exactly the same thing- my parents are paying for the reception hall..they're paying a SMALL portion and we're paying more than them.
that's definitely the wording i would use!!!

Re: Wording woes....
Dbs244 that's a good point. And exactly my dilemma. I've asked FH to ask them if they're going to give us anything and he refuses to ask bc he thinks it's rude and puts them on the 'spot.'. I think as it gets closer, he's just going to have to say something to them.
I also like the idea of writing:
Lisa Smith And Jason Sanders Together with their parents Mr. And Mrs. John Smith And Mr. And Mrs. James Sanders Cordially invite you...
But I don't think it gives my parents the 'placement' they deserve. Ugh woe is me lol.

Re: Wording woes....
thats exactly what we are doing.... My parents are paying for the RH and FH parents are paying for the DJ... so yea my parents are going on top... just the way it is! Not a big deal at all!

Re: Wording woes....
I would defintely include their names on the invite whether they contributed something or nothing...no sense in starting the marraige on the wrong foot.
