Work Annoyance - Vacation Days
So this is sort of wedding related. I've always been one - in any job I've had - to closely monitor my upcoming days off schedule, and vacation days balance. I work hard and I reserve the privilege of looking forward to my time off.
I currently work for a VERY small advertising agency. We have rules and such regarding vacation days, sick days, and holidays, but it's not always 100% clear. Plus, its such a small agency that a lot of time the rules get bent, and certain people have more privileges than others.
I get along amazingly well with my coworker, our operations manager. But this is a huge sore subject. Anytime I bring it up, I get the BIGGEST attitude from her, and I don't know why. I always know when our next day off will be - it's something that I look forward to, so I know when it will be. I also track my vacation days - I am currently stockpiling them for the wedding/honeymoon.
One of our other coworkers asked the operations manager today about our vacation days, and if they carry over. The operations manager mistakenly said that they do carry over, but only for three months. I happen to know that they carry over for six months - I know this because I need them to carry over the six months! I then got a huge attitude, role of the eyes, and the cold shoulder.
I don't get it - am I the only one that looks forward to time off? I don't get it often, so I really appreciate it when I do.
My underlying suspicion is that she feels she should be the source of this knowledge as the operations manager, and I am always chiming in with what I know. I should learn to keep my mouth shut because I know what's right and wrong, but I don't want others to be mis-informed. She says things that degrade my eagerness for time off. Neither of us are crazy workaholics that are addicted to work. We like our jobs but also draw that line. So I don't get the attitude problems.
