OK so just thought I'd reiterate how important it is to negotiate with every single vendor. I had seen 3 florists over the course of a few weeks. Of course the one I LOVED was the most expensive. I was about to book one of the more sensible options when I decided to see how low the one I LOVED would go. I went through item by item with them a let them know what others were charging for the same thing. Moral of the story is that I ended up taking off $1950 off of my original quoted price...32% cost savings!!!!!! Get out there and work it b/c you never know until you ask...happy planning ladies!!

Definatly!!! and if you know someone else who is engaged or gonna be engaged soon take them with you!! my MOH and i did everything together and got great deals!!!!!!!!!!

YUP! i never even really bother to negotiate. if the price sounds reasonable i go with it. i s u c k though b/c i know i could be saving a lot of money. i just get all flustered.

Me too. So far I have been going to places that I know are lower priced because I am so bad at negotiating and I end up feeling a little guilty about trying it there...like I might insult them. How crazy is that. The only time I have ever negotiated well was for my car. I was so proud!

i read this thread yesterday and then i had a dream last night that i was at a vendor and they were really expensive so i started crying and they cut the price in half b/c they felt bad for me.

I am telling you as uncomfortable as you may be with negotiating...to save $2000 on flowers for a 5 minute conversation...soooo worth the uncomfortable fellings...that's $400 a minute woth of savings...WORK IT GIRLIES!!! Happy Planning...

thank you for your advice. i have been going to see vendors and it seems like they are giving me a decent price. But I have learned from Futuremsmulteri ( sorry if i spelled it wrong Colleen) If you want it you can get them down in price.

Im the WORST AT NEGOTIATING!!! Im an 'okay' girl! Can I take you with me to all my vendor meetings please?!! You sound really good at it lol. You should open a professional negotiator business lol

Yeah, I am definitely the worst negotiator in town... a meeting with a vendor typically goes like this:
Us-we want this and this and this Vendor- that costs 8489023002390 dollars Us- great, we'll take it..we'll be back next week for the contract
::get in the car and cry about it and say I wish they weren't so expensive!!!!::

If worse comes to worse try emailing them. I FM'ed or emailed a few vendors and they came down on prices. Sometimes the longer you wait to book, the more nervous they get.
I'm the same way I get very flustered at times, but when I know what I want, I know.
I wish I had done that a little with the hall. I think I got a really good deal but could have gotten them to throw in a few extra things that way.
