Work Vent

As some of you know, I am a Financial Operations Manager. My job is to make sure our office complies with the FINRA guidelines. We had a review yesterday by a main ops manager and she said the faxes have to be copied and placed into a folder. Well. I sent a memo stating that this needs to be done for compliance reasons and one flaky a$$ lady that works here said 'I am not copying faxes- they waste paper.' I am all for environmental love BUT when it comes with compliance regulations, you cannot F around. And of course, I had to be a smart a$$ and say 'Well, one person in our office isn't going to make a difference and this needs to be done regardless.' Okay, granted- it was b*tchy. But we even set up a 'reusable paper' bin. The stack is getting bigger by the day and more paper is being wasted! So, in the end, it doesn't work. I hate people that don't want to do what they are told!

I feel better. Vent over.

I hear ya on that one...some people jsut annoy me!! Tell her to go hug a tree or something!!!!

LOL. Seriously. But I believe in taking care of the environment too. I recycle. I drive smaller cars to conserve gas. I don't use the AC, I turn off lights. I do my part. But when I work with tons of men who print out 75 paged documents and keep only 25 of those pages, it isn't going to make a difference. I respect her beliefs but for her to walk away from me when I said it won't make a difference is ridiculous. Give me a fricken break.

oh Im sorry to hear that ... how are you going to get her to make the copies?

There is an option on our machine where you can put 4 pages on one. They will be smaller but it saves paper. So, she has to do that or else we could be cited!

You should have IT set that as the default printing option on all computers ... then she wont have a choice

yeah, they should be able to do that. We have default settings at my job

The worst is people who don't tell their secretaries to let certain calls through.

I was supposed to have a meeting with an out-of-state client @ 1:30. I called @ 1:30 and his secretary was like 'oh, he is in a meeting' and I said 'yes, I am think I am supposed to be in that.' And she assured me I was not and it was about something else. I asked her to have him call my desk when the meeting I was supposed to be a part of started.

@ 2:00 I get a call from this guy asking me why I didn't call in. I explained what happened, but it was too late and now there is this big hassle to get us all together again
