After reading the pre-wedding vendor thread I am completely sad - so many people seem to be in constant contact with their vendors. The last time I spoke to mine was when I booked - or when there was a problem/question where I initiated the contact.
Does EVERYONE talk to their vendors periodically or are there any brides out there like me with little to no contact?
What should I do?

Re: Working with Vendors
We are getting married aroung the same time, and I haven't really spoke to mine either. Except the photographer, because we already took our E-pics...but that's it. Don't worry!

If you are really worried and just want to touch base, send a card....or FM. Or, just call to say 'Hi'! I really don't think they would mind hearing from you!

Re: Working with Vendors
I'm not in constant contact with my vendors.... I booked many of them so long ago that I worry a little so every couple of month I drop them an email or a phone call and ask a quick question just to make sure they know I'm still here!! But, I don't feel a need to be constantly on them.

Re: Working with Vendors
I haven't talked to my DJ or photographer since we signed our contract. I've talked to my florist once to get pricing and he didn't call me back with the info. I got the feeling he was not interested in spending his time talking to an '05 bride since I have 'so much time.' I talked to my BM a week or two ago to ask a ton of questions and he was so helpful.

I think that you're fine. We booked our hall almost 2 years in advance. We stopped in to visit every 6 months, but a little more when the wedding got closer.
With video, I think we pretty much just booked and then got too busy to keep in contact. I did call once, I think 6 months before to 'check in'.
With photo, we booked a year in advance, but we did have more contact because of doing e-pics.
I booked my florist a month before my wedding, so we had constant communication. (I originally booked someone else, whom I had ZERO contact with, and when I finally tried to get in touch, it went sour)
With more than a year to go, I don't think you need all that much contact. Just check in once in a while to make sure that everyone is still in business!

Re: Working with Vendors
Hey Ang!!
I stalk mine. Especially my hall. I call my Banquet Manager at least once a week. I always have questions and am too far to just stop by and too anxious to wait.
Just call and inquire. Make sure everything is on track. It is not absolutely vital to talk to them all the time but I do think once in a while in good for both of you.
I just don't want my vendors to slack...not that I think they will....but I want them to know that I want to know what is going on.
My florist and I talk everyday because we just entertain eachother.

Re: Working with Vendors
I just started talking to my vendors again a week ago. The only other time I chatted with them is when I booked. I guess I was to busy with everything else that I never had the time to talk with them. You will be fine. The vendors all understand what you are going through.

Whew! Thanks! You all made me feel 100% better. I'll leave it for now and expect to talk with them closer to the wedding.
