Worried about flying in September...

I'm so worried about flying for our September Honeymoon. We'll be leaving Sept. 2 (Labor Day) and returning... SEPT 11!!!!!! I am really afraid of flying then. Especially Sept. 11. Should I worry about it? Does anyone else feel the same way? Thanks!

Melissa,

I am sure that security will be very tight on September 11. Don't worry. Enjoy your honeymoon.

Re: Worried about flying in September...

Melissa, I can definitely say I understand how you feel-I'm sure most of us do. We're living in a different world.
My parents live in FL. What am I to do, never visit them? Only drive there?? There was a terrible accident involving the car train we were thinking of taking a few months ago.
My first flight after September was nerve wracking, but we made it.
I worked downtown, and was standing in front of the WTC when the second tower was struck. It's been tough, but we're taking it a day at a time...
Take a deep breath, talk about how you feel, and most of all go on with your plans and with your honeymoon. Live each day to the fullest and appreciate the little things that make your world happy. If you don't, the bad guys will have won.
We can all find strength in each other, so definitely post again and talk out your feelings if you need to.
I hope, in some small way, this helps.

I totally understand where you are coming from, we are leaving the 8th of Sept. Taraalissa is right, the security will be very strong on the 11th. Have you considered possibly adding an extra day onto your stay so you dont have to come back on the 11th? I know it will cost extra, but it might be worth it for your peace of mind.

My parents are going to Germany on September 11th!!!! I was so mad at my mom that she booked the flight for that day...She can't change either. I just wouldn't worry about it. I don't think anything will happen but I shouldn't talk I am totally obsessed with all that is going on. Just go and enjoy yourself.

It was hard for me to fly after 9/11 too. I travel a lot on business and I think my first flight was at the end of September and I was very nervous.

I made it back safely and since then I've taken 3 or 4 flights and everything was fine. Security is tight, the lines are longer, but it's worth it.

Relax and enjoy yourself!

Re: Worried about flying in September...

I will be flying on Sept 9, coming back from my sisters wedding, I am not worried at all, I have a feeling my fiance might not be too happy. But I am not going to stop living. We have flown 2x since 9/11, so I guess that soften the cushion for him. But it was even harder for him since the plane that went down in Rockaway after 9/11 was only blocks away from our home.

I can only tell you to try not too worry or think about it, just think about how exciting your honeymoon will be and then you will be excited to see everyone after and show pics.

I actually think Sept 11 (this year) will be the safest day to fly.

I'm flying then too

I'm getting married on 9/8 and leaving for my honeymoon on 9/10. My fiance is really nervous, but I'm OK about. I know there will be a lot of security and if there is a terrorist attack again, I doubt it will be the exact same thing a year later.
I wish you the best!

To be honest, I bet 9/11 will be the safest day to fly....

I have gotten back into my normal flying mood after flying a few times...I just keep an eye open a little more...

You cannot live your life worrying...enjoy your wedding and honeymoon!!
