Some brides I know told me they had missing envelopes & gifts. Your guests might me people you know and love but who knows what guests they might bring and the staff at the hall.. I donno those people and what their morals are! I think im going to get a locked box and keep it under the table and keep moving my cards into it.

My mom said we are keeping the card box near my grandma.....she's got eyes like a hawk and will kill anyone who comes within a 5ft radius of my box!

This is a fear of mine as well. My brother had missing envelopes from his wedding as well......some of the guests brought some unsavory dates. It was sad. We have no idea how much is gone. Only reason they found out was because my grandparent's card was missing. They paid by check and the check has never been cashed.
Ours will be right on our table dead in front of us and I will ask 5 people at the wedding to keep and eye on it at all times. We're strapping the trunk so it will be hard to open with no one noticing, but it won't prevent someone from walking off with it.
I like your idea of removing envelopes as the evening progresses. Maybe i'll have my mom put them in her purse or something.
It's sad these are things we have to consider when planning a wedding. there's no trust anymore cause there can't be.

i will make sure my MOH guards it! i have heard some horror stories of people actually walking out of the wedding w/ the card box!

At one hall I visited the Bridal Suite had a safe... and it was locked with only a combination I knew.
I don't know what I'm going to do about the gifts... I am going to think of something!!! No one better walk off with my gifts, I will cut them!

i was actually JUST talking to my friend about this...and then I read this. We both thought it was nuts to think people would take the cards...apparently we were wrong!

thats why i purchased a BIG cardbox so nobody can run out with it and not notice. Plus my cardbox wasnt the one that you open up to put a card in. It had a small slot to put your card in but you couldnt put your hand in to take one out, its impossible and in order to take the envelopes out we had to pull on the ribbon on top and then that unlocks the bottom part with our envelopes and after that we are able to life it up and take the cards out, i had to read the directions just to open teh card box haha. My cardbox was 4 big boxes stacked on top of eachother but all glued to one another obviously
plus there was always at least 1 bridal attendant or our own waiter right behind our table which was where our cardbox was

My card box is extremely heavy and I made the slit at the top very thin so that ONLY and envelope can fit. FH and I have joked about this though. He is a cop (and he's always strapped) and there will be quite a few cops at our wedding. Somebody will catch a bad one if they even think about stealing our box!

I have a photo card box. Very easy to take the whole thing. I am putting it by my mothers table instead of leaving it alone on a table..

at the wedding i went to in july my mom refused to put her card in the card box. she said that you should give your card to the bride & groom. i have a white satin purse that my nanny made me for my communion. i will have my FH's grandmother hold onto it & give her the cards to put into it.

for eparty i didnt use a cardbox, and let me say that i wish i did. Instead i used a bag to put them in and gave to my mom to hold. But then i felt horrible bc she just felt she had to watch it the entire time instead of just relaxing. Not only that but when she wanted to get up and dance she couldnt just get up, she had to find somebody else we trusted to hold on to it. Not only that but you yourself worry about it more, i kept checking on it the entire night and worrying about it. Dh ended up losing 4 envelopes that night too bc instead of running to the person who had the bag, he was holding on to it and then who knows how it happened. Dh kept saying how we'll give it to his dad to watch at the wedding bc he would be good at doing so but then i told DH not to, i wanted our family to enjoy the night and not have to sit there guarding something all night or give them any sort of job or responsibilities. I wanted them to have a care free fun evening

agreeddddd this is why im making the card box.... i might just put it under the table but still having one
