so is anyone else feel worried about picking a vendor? the photographer is sooo important to me (as i know it is to almost every bride!) that i'm a little nervous to pick one b/c i want to just looove their work and feel confident the pics will be beautiful. i don't have any appointments set up just yet b/c FH's schedule is so busy i need get his whole work, grad school, & coaching schedules before i can make any appointments
if you booked your photographer already can you tell me what it was that made you pick them?
when you were shopping around for photographers did you look at a photographer's work and just know immediately whether you like them or not? TIA!

Re: worried...photographer
I went to see and looked online at a lot of photographers.
Some FH liked and I didn't and vice versa.
Then we met with ThomasPaul (FH complained that he was so far, since we are in Queens)
When we walked in and looked at some albums, loved the style.
Then he put on the video before it was even over FH was like 'Where is the contract?' That's when we knew we found out photographer. We both loved his work and clicked with him. He is really funny and a great guy.
I think you just know when you found the right one.

Re: worried...photographer
I narrowed them down from their online pics. Mine blew everyone out of the water from the pics and video we saw online. We were looking for a place that had both amazing quality pics as well as used cinematography and they had both so we booked the first time we went and didn't shop around.

We went with LoveMorePhoto and are so very, very excited.
They are a young married couple who you can just tell totally put their hearts into every wedding shoot.
I've had friends who have used some of the larger companies that have teams of photographers and it just wasn't for us. I've seen many pictures from these types of businesses and sometimes they airbrush to the point where the pictures just don't look real.
It was important for us to choose a photographer that had sort of an artsy style and that was more photojournalistic.
Again, it just comes down to who YOU feel comfortable with because at the end of the day that is all that matters.
Be sure to meet with a few and you will find the right one.

Re: worried...photographer
I only met with 1 photographer. There was no competition at all for me. So many people on this site recommended Duet and i looked at there pictures and got pricing and knew that's who i wanted. I went over budget (like double) but to me photos is the most important thing for the wedding.
This is the only thing you will have in years to come to show your kids and grandkids.
I cant wait until December to meet them again.

Same here, we met him at a showcase and loved his work and were sold at our apointment with him. We booked with Franklin Square Photography and I highly recommend them.

I was worried and met with a LOT because I feel the same way. I guess like many others we knew instantly when we met Florio at Lighthouse Photography. He and his colleague Tony made us feel at ease (I'm totally anal and had a million questions), do awesome work and worked with our budget.

Re: worried...photographer
we looked a lot online at photogs to get an idea of their work, and we found one in particular who just had the exact 'eye' that we were looking for. Her stuff is absolutely gorgeous and when we met with her she was the coolest person ever. I think its super important to find a photog who gets your vision and who you will get along with since they will be there all day with you!

Re: worried...photographer
We booked with Above and Beyond Photo in Islip. We shopped around for a while and looked at many books, etc. and met a lot of companies at expos and spoke to everyone we could. We ended up meeting with our current vendor and fell in love. Not only with their work but with the comfortable feeling we got when meeting with them. They made us feel at ease and instead of treating like a potential check in the mail, I felt special like they actually cared about us and our wedding! We loved their work so it was a no brainer, we booked! We took some engagement shots and again they were very easy to work with and I was very happy with the photos. Can't wait for my wedding!!!!!!!
It's gonna really come down to who you feel comfortable with...that's how we book our reception hall too!
