worst date ever? the one that makes you appreciate FH all over again?
I got into a huge fight this weekend with FH. I was pissed but for some reason this memory popped into my head -- one of my worst dates ever.
Years before FH, I went on a blind date with this guy from Brooklyn. We didn't seem to have a lot in common but he seemed okay. He invited me to a comedy club -- one that I never heard of but I figured it would be fun. Well, the first comedian starts to chat with people from the audience and he starts to ask my date where he's from and what he does and what not. Then he says, 'Are you married? Is that your wife?' My date (thinking he's a comedian too) replies, 'We're married but not to each other.' I was so freakin embarassed. Every head turned and stared at me. The men leered and the women rolled their eyes. Before I could jump in and say he was kidding, the comedian tells the waitress to 'bring that man a drink, whatever he wants --on me. ' My date asks for some expensive top shelf liquor -- which pisses off the comedian, who is visibly seething. I was MORTIFIED. I told him I wanted to leave and when we got outside I asked him why he did that. He replied, 'WHAT?!!! It was just a joke!!!!!'
Holy crap!!! I really appreciate FH!!!

I went out with a guy who was really nice but we lacked chemistry from the beginning...but thinking there may be a spark we went out again. I met him in Manhattan and we went to Little Italy for dinner, but he hadn't told me that we were meeting a bunch of his friends at a restaurant there...that was REALLY uncomfortable for me. At the beginning of the evening I had a scratchy throat and half-way through I was starting to lose my voice, so by 10pm I excused myself to go home (with barely a voice at that point). My 'date' said, ok, get home safely, didn't get up at all, didn't walk me to the train station, nothing...I would think the chivalrous thing to do is to walk a lady to the subway station whether you like her or not. I high-tailed it out of there as quickly as I could and never spoke to him again.
I couldn't imagine my FH to ever do such a thing to anyone, and it makes me VERY happy to know that I made the right choice.
