Ok. Let me start by saying I am not inviting children to the wedding, so therefore it is an adult reception. One example as to why is that my uncle & aunt have two young kids, I know they won't be able to enjoy themselves with them there.
So I obviously don't have a flower girl. But would it be weird if I were to ask one of my sister's friends (who's very close with our family) to be one despite the fact she's 21? She actually suggested it when I said I don't have a flower girl cause there are no children at the wedding. I don't know how I feel about it.. I think it could be different in a cool kind of way.. like an unexpected thing. My mom & FMIL think it would be ridiculous.
Your thoughts?

My honest opininon? Why not just honor her as a bridesmaid if you would like her to be a part of the wedding? I would just nix the flwer girl thing....I mean, I guess it's different though....it's really up to you....

I would make her a BM, i think 21 is too old to be a flower girl-JMO
I'm not having kids at the wedding either

Re: Would it be weird if..
if your going to add her to the BP you might as well make her a BM... it would look very odd to have a flower girl who is 21...And being 22, I know I wouldnt want to be a flower girl at my age, would rather be a BM...

I think you should ask her to be a bridesmaid instead. My little sister which will be 12 on my wedding will be a jr bridesmaid and I am seriously considering her to give her a basket with petals so she will have the bridesmaid/flower girl feel . I think that would be different

Im not having children at my reception, although I am having a flower girl, who will leave promptly after the ceremony.
I would make the 21 year old a BM.

I was thinking of just having her as a BM in a lighter shade of purple than the rest of the girls and just give her a flower basket.. she really wants to throw the flowers LOL. I don't know if there is something wrong with her for wanting to do that or something wrong with me cause I'm considering it.

Re: Would it be weird if..
I am having only a few children at my wedding.
Anyway FH's neice asked to be my flower girl, she will be 13 at our wedding and I told her def not. I though 13 was way to old to be a flower girl. I made her a bridesmaid. SO 21... she is not a 'girl' she is a gown woman! You really don't need a flower girl, alot of weddings don't have them. Make her a bridesmaid.
Edit: I changed my mind. Do it. I like the idea, as long as she won't be in a cheesy dress!

It's your wedding, why not? You said before that you haven't gone the traditional route with your wedding. If this would make you happy, I say go for it. I think it could be fun and people would get a kick out of it.

I have to be honest, I think thats very weird. If she's 21 and your close, then she should be a BM, otherwise I would not bother.

If she REALLY wants to toss the petals... have her be a BM with a dress like the other girls. If she wants to throw the petals -- let her.

I agree to old. But you can still have a flower girl with no kids, she will just be the only kid there.

Some people at your wedding might think its a little weird. I would be very surprised myself if I went to a wedding and saw this.
However, if its what you really want- it is your wedding and you should do what YOU want.
