a good idea..as place cards and favors i want to get little flower pots and paint them with the colors of the wedding and put the date of our wedding and and our names then stick the places cards into them.

It's cute but realistically, would you save a pot with people's names and wedding dates on it? As long as you're okay with people saying 'oh cute' and leaving it at the reception, then it's a great idea. Otherwise, people may not know they're supposed to keep it or may not want to keep it. I know I wouldn't keep a little pot with someone's names and dates on it. Just me though, I dont like knick knacks that sit around collecting dust.
