Ok so my Mom and I are extremely close. She lives in NY and I in MD. I have found my dress at a boutique in MD and my sis has come down to see it and my FMIL and FSIL have gone with me to see it. My Mom and I had plans to go see and most likely order the dress on 4/19/08. Now she is saying she MIGHT be invited to her Cousin's grandchild's Christening. So she is not going to come the weekend we had planned, since basically she got a better offer. So now she wants me to rearrange my schedule for other weekends in April so she can come down to see the dress. I told her the two previous weekends I cannot have company since I already have previous commitments. So the other option is to come down the weekend after 4/19/08 but that happens to be the weekend before her Husband's birthday. And she wanted to celebrate with my sister and BIL. Even though his birthday is not till the 29th, a weekday and they all live in NY and could get together in the evening on the day. Also, what is wrong with celebrating with me and my fiance over the weekend?!?! And why is everyone and everything, including her DOG, being put before coming down here and helping her DAUGHTER pick out a wedding dress?!?!?!

Thanks girls! It has turned out pretty messy. We ended up changing her visit to the first weekend in May which is when I was supposed to come to LI to meet with my florist. So now that is pushed back too. I dunno I just feel like I am compromising and she is not budging. Oh well.

Oh, I'm so sorry. That is so messed up. Pick out your dress is suppose to be a very special moment with you and your mom. I can't believe that would not be priority to her. I am so sorry. I know it totally ***** that you have to compromise, but in this situation she has given you no other choice and if you decided to order the dress without her seeing it, you will probably regret it since you will loose out on that special moment. So not fair. I so feel for you. Just remember though, in the end everything will work out, it'll be perfect, your dress your wedding everything.

I totally understand how you feel. I am dealing with a similar situation. My Mother is upstate right now helping my sister with her baby that was born 6 months ago... I need her now also. My sister was married a few years ago and she had my mother through it all. I am left alone doing everything myself. I had to wait to get my dress because of my Mom. So, I totally know what you are going through. It *****.

Re: Would this have hurt you?!?!
honestly, i would be a lil hurt and upset. this is definitely one of more fun parts of the planning process. i would discuss with her another date; i wouldn't linger and brood over something that is not going to change. i know that's easier said than done. just don't add any extra drama even if u feel ur mom is neglecting u or breaking plans that you guys made. it's really minute in the grande scheme of things.
PS. i'm reading 'Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth' and it is showing me that deep inside me (and everyone) there is a need to have drama or feel bad or be a victim. so at times we blow things out of proportion, unconsciously.
PPS idk if any of this made sense but i hope it atleast made a spark
Hopefully you can just talk to ur mom and not argue about it. best of luck.
