Would you...

...change your e-ring setting?

I'm having a 'I don't know what to do' moment right now. FH wants to change my e-ring setting. I chose my ring a week before FH proposed. I chose it because I didn't want him to spend a lot of money on it. What I really wanted, was (at the time) wayyyyyyyy too expensive and I couldn't see FH buying something that he couldn't afford. I like the ring he got (I love the stone!!) but now he wants to get me what I want because he can afford it now.

Not many of you know me well but I am terrified about judgments, hence why it took me so long to find my dress. I don't want to change the setting because I feel people will think of me as shallow or uncaring which is far from the case. However, I love the new setting he chose (with matching wedding bands) and it's what I initially wanted in 2009. I know many of you would never change your e-ring and I wouldn't either, if I had gotten the ring I wanted initially. Bu what would you do if you were in my situation??

Should I let FH change the setting?

If he wants to get you the setting you orginally loved I dont see anything wrong with it... You are going to be wearing it everyday for the most part so you wanna be happy with it ya know? plus its only the setting right? you would keep the stone he originally proposed with? Even if you changed the whole ring as long as you both Love it thats all that matters. I wouldnt worry about what everyone thinks.. you and FH know the real reason and its your business.

i wouldnt worry so much about what others say ... it could be a wedding day gift. if youre that concerned why not wait until your first year anniversary whether of your engagement of your wedding?

Danielle, if the only thing holding you back is what other people will think about this decision, then I don't think that's enough to keep your from doing it.

You and FH both have your reasons, and anyone who knows you well will understand... andno one else really matters. I think it's a beautiful thing that he wants to make you happy and if he's able to do it and he wants to do it, then let him! Enjoy your new ring!

Danielle, we have the same name by the way I did the opposite. FH wanted to get me a bigger stone when he proposed but couldn't afford it at the time so at the end of last year he got the money and bought the bigger stone but I kept the setting.

If you and FH want to change the setting, that's your business no one else should really matter especially if it will make you both happy. Go for it girl!

Re: Would you...

do what makes you feel comfortable dont worry about other opinions I know plenty of people that changed setting over the years. I even know two girls that exchanged their rings the next day for something they wanted because they didnt like what their fiances picked out. Who cares what others think, if they are negative they arent worth listening to anyways

I would not change mine but if you and FH are comfortable doing so, I say go for it... Don't worry about another person's opinion!

FH said once we can afford it, he will change my setting. I felt ehhhh about that since i love my ring, but i know that in his heart of hearts, it is not what he would want me to have 'forever'. dont worry about other people, noone else is in your marriage beside you and FH. :)
