I'm getting married on Friday, June 23 and FH's female cousin is getting married on Sept 9. Her family has planned her shower for Saturday June 17th...6 days before my wedding. FSIL is upset because she thinks they could've done it in July after my wedding to be considerate. I told her it was no big deal as long as it wasn't the same weekend as the wedding. She's afraid we will be too crazy that week with last minute stuff and rehearsal, etc. Would you be pissed? Am I being too laid back about it?

I wouldn't and I think you're right not to get worked up about it. It's 6 days before your wedding. I think it's unfair how some brides get so worked up about their wedding that they don't want anyone else to have anything going on before or after their wedding. It's your day, not your week. Enjoy the shower, it'll be a nice break from wedding maddness.

I don't know if I would be pissed, but June definitely sounds early for a September wedding. Why wouldn't they just plan it a little bit later? Was there some sort of schedule conflict?

I don't know, I asked the same question about the scheduling conflict also. But timing wise, my shower is April 8 (yes, I know when my shower is) and it's 2.5 months before my wedding so I guess they're doing it about the same time.

They could have waited until July it really was not imperative that they have it in June the week before your weddings...howvever like someone said it may work out for you beacuse it may break up the monotony and stress of ;last minute wedding mayheim.

I give you lots of credit for having such a healthy and open-minded attitude about this. You are a wonderful example for stressed out brides to be! While I understand your FSIL's concerns, I think everything will work out just fine. Besides, as long as both of you & FH's cousin are ok with it, that's all that matters anyway.

I would not be upset by this at all. It is a week before your wedding, not a day. I think you are being very level headed about it.

My goodness, finally a bride who doesn't flip out if anything happens within a month of her wedding!
I think it's so silly for people to get worked up over these things - it really shouldn't affect your wedding in any way, and I commend you for your level headed attitude.
