Your FH's grandparents were not coming to the wedding, sent back the RSVP card without even calling to explain why?? I just can't seem to get this out of my head!
They live out of state and cannot drive in the dark, however, there are PLENTY of other family members coming from the same vicinity...why can't they get a ride with someone????

Yes I would be hurt. There are a few people that are not coming to my wedding that are upsetting me so far. But I am learning to not get too upset about it.

Same here!!! I am trying to not take it personally, but his grandparents not coming is a shock!

Yes, you have every right to be upset. If they don't feel up to traveling, that's fine, but it would have been nice if they called and explained it to you, rather than just sending back the RSVP card.

Yes, but I would call and find out why before I got too upset.

Re: Would you be hurt if...
There are a million reasons to why a guest cannot attend a wedding. If they were courteous of RSVP'ing, they did their job. IMHO - having a 'legitimate' excuse doesn't really change the fact they're unable to attend.

Re: Would you be hurt if...
Yes, I'd be but mostly becuase it stinks that people you care about won't be there to share your day...my husband's FATHER didn't come to our wedding due to a fat lot of excuses none of which seemed imporant enough to miss your son's wedding and while now I'll never think of him the same way I tried to remember that not all people think alike and I'm sure he ( or the grandparents in your case) aren't doing it to be intentionally hurtful...and there are plenty of people that will be there..concentrate on them

I don't know if I would be hurt as much as confused. However, if you're upset, perhaps your FH could ask his parents to find out why they're not coming.

I would ask FH's parents to call for an explanation. it could also be the $$$ thing.

I'd be concerned.
Definitely have your FILs talk to them! They could just need a push. I'm finding as one of my grandfather's is getting older, he's getting more stubborn!

Thank you, ladies! You really have put some things in perspecitive. FH's mom is aware and kinda knew all along they wouldn't be attending. I just have to focus on how many wonderful people we will be surrounded by that special day! Thanks for letting me vent!

I'm now going through the same thing with my grandfather now so I totally understand!!! He has told everyone he isn't coming (he lives in Syosset and has plenty of people to transport him!)

Re: Would you be hurt if...
I'd be hurt...but not upset. Lots of relatives didn't make our wedding....that actually made the NOs funnier because my in-laws swore up and down the relatives were coming...
They could have reasons that are private...there could be beef somewhere that you don't know about...but like Chrissy said, people can choose not to come, their reason is their reason...doesn't matter what it is as long as they tell you yay or nay.
