Would you be mad?

Would you be mad?

My future sister in law, my FH's brother's wife, responded a 'YES' to my shower, told my mom she was coming. Never showed up. Never called. We found out she had to leave on vacation that day with her hubby and kids (He is a lawyer and time off is limited).

I ALWAYS get her kids nice gifts and we always respond to their invitations. She never even sent a gift! FH and his brother aren't that close, but still....I have met her several times, and always got along with her! how rude!

I would be. I would presume the vacation did not come out of no where and that at some point before the shower she realized they were the same day.

It was incredibly rude not to call and say she won't be there.

Some people are just so rude! They dont get it. Sorry you had to be this way but if it makes you feel any better my FSIL is the same way.

Re: Would you be mad?

thanks

yes, of course, they must have had it planned, so why didn't she call???

And just to add, she does not work, and has 3 kids and OF COURSE a nanny ..and has time to play tennis....but no time to pick up the phone!!

That is so wrong- she is going to be your family. You would at least think she would have called you and apologized and then sent a nice gift!!

Re: Would you be mad?

I would be more pi**ed that she didn't show up without saying so much as a congrats than the gift issue. Its obvious this trip was planned in advance where her hubby could get time off. She should know better. Maybe the gift is coming in the mail? Did you have any gifts missing that were taken off your registry?

Re: Would you be mad?

The attorney thing does NOT make any difference - she should have KNOWN they were going on vacation and limited time or NOT - she should have called and told them she could not come and then sent a gift - that is just classless and rude - They would not decide to take a vacation the night before the party I guarentee you that she had at least a few weeks OR MORE notice that they were going on vacation

Re: Would you be mad?

LOL Marni - thanks!

They are not a typical 'close' family....and mine is...it made me feel like my shower didn't matter.

Gimme back all those gifts FH and I bought for the kids! LOL just kidding, it's not a competition, but if I was going to have a new sister in law, I would want to welcome her.
