Would you be upset?

Would you be upset?

I like many other brides planned on saving the top of my wedding cake so my DH and I can share a piece of it on our 1 year anniversary.

Well, I think my DH threw out the top of our wedding cake during our move

I don't recall seeing it in my freezer and I know he didn't intentionally mean to throw it out and didn't know the meaning behind saving it. I kind of feel bad mentioning it to him because he will feel terrible.

Would you be upset?

ETA: I couldn't hold back, I just called him and asked but he swears it's in the freezer. Sorry to waste your time but was just curious to know if anyone would be upset by this.

Thanks

A little. But not upset enough to cry or yell at him for it. As an alternative, what you can do is buy a cake that was the same inside, frosting and filler as your actual wedding cake and celebrate that way. That's what I'd do.

P.S. my sister in law did save her wedding cake and both she and BIL said it tasted nasty so they ended up throwing it away after one bite anyhow.

I'd probably be upset too, but that's pretty funny...typical guy. Think that maybe he did you a favor. Who wants to eat year old cake? Now you have an excuse to eat a really nice dessert on my first anniversary!

Ewwwwwwww

That's true, I don't expect it to taste good but I guess I just want to follow the tradition.

My brother and sister in law had a 'luau' themed first anniversary party where they ordered one layer of the wedding cake from the bakery they used at their wedding. They had gone to Hawaii on their honeymoon and thought it was a great way to celebrate. Maybe you can do the same? See if the bakery can do that for you?

I would probably be initially upset but not crazy. I think I would order a similar cake to celebrate.

Maybe a little, but not much. Most people say the cake is totally nasty anyway by the time a year rolls around. Get a new cake or dessert to celebrate with, I'm sure it will taste a heck of a lot better!

I would be upset, but not at him. If it did go in the garbage I'm sure it wouldn't have been intentionally.

I'll be so upset if ours tastes nasty after two boxes of foil & plastic wrap... Not to mention the space it's taking up in our freezer....

my aunt saved hers...i was not impressed when forced to eat it one year later. it's a cute thing to do, but i don't know that i'd be too hurt...or that we'll do it.

ours went bad while we were on our honeymoon. Along with other goodies from the wedding.

Good thing because my mom told me that the cake was awful! I barely tasted the cake!

I don't think that I would be upset only because he did not intentionally do it. If he really did throw it away, I am sure you can call the bakery and have them make up a new one that you two can have on your one year anniversary.

Re: Would you be upset?

I learned from my FBIL's GF who works at the Rolling Pin Bakery that they make a new cake for the couples they provide cakes for on their one year anniversary, so you don't have to save a piece. You just have to remember the cake and flavors you had b/c they don't keep records like that, just pictures. Check with your baker - maybe they do this too!
