Would you be upset?

Would you be upset?

Well I know about my shower and my Dad just told that my stepmom will not be coming to my shower b/c they have something to do at church that day. He wants to see me the day before so they can give me a shower gift. I told him I was busy that day. What can possibly be so important that she cannot attend this shower. What they do in church is all volunteer work. He said he did not get enough notice to make changes. I am so upset....What am I going to tell FH? He will be furious.

Yes I would definitely be upset and I would let them know how you feel, if you haven't already. Maybe they can come for an hour or two and then leave a little early. This is important to you and they should be there.

I would be upset, but if they are volunteering, they are probably doing it to help someone who is less fortunate. You have to take that into consideration...

However, with that said, I would still be asking... If they knew it was my shower why did they make plans?

What they do is welcome new comers to the church. My dad said that they do this every two weeks and it happened to be that sunday is the same sunday they volunteer. I did express my feelings but I just don't understand why they can't tell the church that their youngest daughter is having her shower on sunday and it is very important that they attend

My FMIL is a church nut and was late to our E party b/c of it. It pi$$ed me off, but not much I can do about it.

It sounds like you and your stepmom are close. Then I would be pissed. Did you talk to her about it? It should be important to both of them. Nothing would stop my parents.

I would be mad. Is the decision coming from your dad or stepmom?

I would be upset, too, and I don't think that anyone at the church would fault them for not being there to attend your shower. Wouldn't it be just your stepmom who wouldn't be there... your dad could do the church thing alone? Tell them you only get one of these in your life, and if the people closes to you aren't there, the day won't be complete.
